Korg Kaossilator

These are neat. A pocket sized cross between a kaos pad and a single oscillator synthesizer.

FL Studio is easier than Reason for sequencing as it lets you design tunes on a pattern-by-pattern basis while letting you change many patterns at the same time

I can do this in Reason.

For my computer setup I use Reason 4, Ableton 7, and Audition 3 for editing. I use Reason to come up with the patterns and beats and I import them into Ableton to set things up. Audition for clean ups. I use my usb Korg MS-20 to control my VSTs. I don't care for trackers personally. But I never got too into them.

Then I have my actual instruments to record. Couple guitars, basses, my banjo, a couple organs and lots of guitar pedals.

Delia Derbyshire.

She's an idol of mine. I stenciled on to a shirt one of her trademark photos where she's tweaking some knobs on a synth. But even when I tell people who the stencil is of, they still don't know who she is... and that makes me sad.

Okay this sounds good, I'll grab a copy of Ninjam when I get home from work. Personally I can't do it this weekend as my band is getting ready for a show and writing new tracks. But if some of you could still get together and give it a test run then that would be awesome. Next weekend I'm definitely in though.

Do we know how many simultaneous connections we can have with Ninjam?

Boards of Canada's "Music has the right to children". It's pretty awesome.

Eagle On My Mind and Happy Cycling are freaking great tracks.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel

Hands down the greatest album ever recorded. Ever. Period.

I find I also have certain times of the day when I feel I'm most creative. So I try to leave these times open in case the bug hits me and I want to work on something. For me that's early mornings around 9:00am and late late nights after midnight.

I don't know if other people feel this way too. But once I found my "times", I noticed I was able to be more productive in my work.

While I don't have an Eee PC I did recently just buy a netbook for coffee shop hopping and mobile coding / music making. I grabbed the Acer Aspire One. So for it's been doing me really really great.

1.6 ghz intel atom proccessor
1 gig ram
160 gig HD

And all for only 320$ when I got it. It's clearly not a gaming rig with it's integrated graphics card, but it gets the job done. Works great for most old school and indie titles I've tried it with. A+.

And for a little bit of shameless self promotion... We just found out yesterday that we got invited to come play at the Pop Montreal music festival this October. So any other Canucks in the area should come check us out and join us for drinks after!

I have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones. I bought them for around 200$ but it's possible to find them for 150$. These are the single greatest headphones I've ever used. My day job is as a sound designer for a research project in virtual reality. I do all my work on these headphones and if they broke I'd immediately get another pair. They're studio monitor headphones. That means they don't add any extra highs or lows to the audio range and what you're hearing is exactly as it was recorded.

I recommend everyone to get a decent pair of headphones. It's like going from SD television to HD.

I don't have much of a real sound system at the moment as I'm saving up for monitor speakers. So I can't help you much there.

Atleast we few noisers here can do whatever we want in whatever speed Hand Metal LeftBig LaffHand Metal Right

Aye, god bless my large mass of blinking buttons.

The software I've been looking into (as of an hour ago) is eJamming. Seems to have the latency issue nipped in the bud according to reviews. But it's limited to only 4 musicians at a time. So that may be what we have to work with, just 4 at a time. If we have someone keeping beat (I have a couple drum machines) then that should keep everyone in check. And ya I figure this would fit better with more experimental / improved style of music. But who cares, anything goes.

It seems technically possible as long as the people involved have decent connections. But again... I haven't tried any of this personally
