Just remember that, as we all know, it is important to support large companies which have ruined themselves through their own poor decisions rather than small groups or individuals who would benefit far more from the exposure such a chance would give them. So what are you all complaining about?

There is a Russian tactics game called Silent Storm. Rather than having a gender binary, it has a slider for your character -- you are perfectly free to make your character masculine, feminine, androgynous, whatever if you like. That is because, you know, it doesn't matter. But that game also has very little voice acting in it; a modern game needs lots of voice acting, especially these big budget games coming out of the major studios, right? For all that Bioware make silly and poorly-thought-out games, I think they've done well in making their protagonists gender-neutral: Shepard, for example, obviously has the masculine emphasized (that's what's on the box) but you can be a woman as well if you want and it doesn't really matter all that much.

You have to realize that this is a problem and it's not just a question of let's discriminate against women; it's easier and, more importantly, cheaper to hire one voice actor than two (or more, if you get to pick one for your character). How do you decide which gender to pick?

They fired a bunch of the people from Vigil as soon as Darksiders 2 was finished and are basically destroying themselves with terrible business choices.

If you want to play some JRPGs, then play Last Remnant or, older options,

Saga Frontier 2
SMT Nocturne
Romancing Saga PS2
any of the Front Missions

ps: everything square enix has made in the past 5 years has been garbage

But... well...

I liked The Last Remnant, at least. It's the only modern JRPG I liked that I can think of, though.

Desert Solitaire

The memoirs of a man who worked for some time in a desert national park, alone. It is more or less a late-era transcendentalist work, though I expect if you told the author that he would beat the shit out of you. Very good.

Durr hurr, I bought an isometric RPG that's older than I am on Steam and it doesn't even have any tooltips during the loading screen to tell me how to do things.  Worst yet is that the game developers didn't even make a alternative for me the person playing the game over a decade later without the manual I was intended to be referencing during play.  Did they even test this game before they released it?

Arcanum, is that you?

You know what's worst than that? All Spiderweb Software games. They're all like "why balancing the game, when the player can restart it anytime? Let's just go have a drink."  Toast Right

if you think that then i would wager you haven't played any of the newer ones, but i guess it is easier to make an emoticon than to discuss things!

I had a box of items of unknown purpose. I could investigate them to hopefully find out what they were for OR give them away -- not both -- OR use one of them. My ability seemed fairly useless from the limitations on it, especially since the first item I investigated was apparently pointless? It also wasn't clear if the items could kill me, or something of that nature, which meant I more or less had to investigate them to make any use of my powers at all -- and in the end, I never actually used anything I learned from my ability in any way during the game.

However, I was able to convince Bobo that I was an innocent right from the start, which meant I was able to act on information he provided and pass him information as well. In the end, though, I wound up being mostly ineffective apart from being the one who broke the information about tokens and how lying worked -- which was useless, as Tanner had already died Wink

Because some people have expressed silly disbelief to me, I will say it outright.

I am innocent and a speaker of truth.

I agree; I really loved that game and I don't get the hate it seems to inspire in some people. Sure, it can get repetitive and the dialog's not great, but I like platform puzzles and it delivered so many I couldn't believe my eyes -- and even if the hero is a bit of a dick, it's still better than Warrior Within.

For myself, I've been playing Silent Storm from the GoG sale this weekend... which is fantastic, of course. It makes the newer Jagged Alliance mysterious in how bad it was -- why not just use the Silent Storm engine or something like that? Or at least imitate it...

You still accuse me after I risked my life to reveal the Liars' plot to you all? Fools! Do you still not know that Crowe is an innocent and loyal speaker of truth?

I don't know whether you can reuse them to join the enemy, but I do know that they will win everyone alive is a Liar and holds a token, so for that reason I believe they must have a way of getting more. I do not know who sent it to me... but I have an idea on the subject, which I will share with you all presently.

Nitro, your games are becoming tiresome. You have called me out many times now. If you wish to present some evidence against me you are very much free to do so; otherwise, understand that you are merely aggravating a situation which you have no control over apart from blind murdering and killing.

In truth, brothers, I have something to reveal as well. There is someone sending out tokens with the ability to recruit others into the lying side. I know this because I have received one -- I did not use it, but I can indeed reveal its existence and effects. So do not trust others so easily, for they can at any time become an enemy of the people seeking to destroy the light of truth. All it takes is a seed of doubt, and a little lie, and they will become heathens to the cause.

I have never lied -- indeed, I swore not to. This is the truth, and you must all believe... or be destroyed.
