I am looking for an artist or artists interested in working on a visual novel project called Keeper Asylum. It's intended to be a horror-style visual novel. It's not intended to be heavy in gore and excessive violence, as it's more of a mystery-escape oriented horror rather than a slasher-style deal.

The story is about a group of friends who wander into an abandoned insane asylum and find themselves trapped inside. The player must navigate the asylum and attempt to find a means of escape for them and their friends, all the while avoiding an evil, demonic being known as the Keeper and his masked minions, the Happy Helpers.

This is a HOBBY/PROFIT SPLIT project, so I'm not going into this with a budget. The goal of this project is for all members involved to gain experience and have fun working together to create something valuable. I'm using this opportunity to gain some experience with coding and with writing for interactive games.

For the project, we're going to need the following visual art assets:

Character sprites(multiple expressions and pose variation) for the entire cast of the game.
Background visuals of the asylum where the story takes place
Visual effects for when the supernatural occurs.
 GUI Design

The plan is to code and build the game using the Ren'Py engine. http://www.renpy.org/

If you'd like to see some examples of my work, look at the following:

http://comicmansion.com/comics I have two completed webcomics where I was involved in the writing, working with another artist.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=119516708 I am currently directing the work for this project, and wrote the story for the game(originally intended as a webcomic as well)

If you are interested in doing the art for the game or have questions, please either reply here with some examples of your work, or send them in an e-mail to triscygaming @ gmail.com

We're aiming for PC and, if we can get it set up well enough, Ouya. No consoles at this point, since it's our first project and dealing with PSN or XBLA are both a pain.

Thanks!

Right now we are actually not in need of concept artists, but we REALLY need to find another sprite artist or two, one forlevel art/tilesets and such and another to assist in character sprites/animations.

I'm going to modify the original post to reflect this in a sec.

Hiya. I'm a pretty novice member here on these forums, but I was pointed here by a friend. I'm very interested in going into game design, specifically the 3D modeling/animation and storywriting side of things, so I felt it would be a good idea to register here.

But this really isn't supposed to be an introduction thread. I came here to ask if anybody would be so kind as to point me to any good tutorials and reference materials that are useful for someone starting out in Blender 3D. I've found some here and there, and they've been helpful, but I want to see if you folks here with some more familiarity with the program could point me to some better resources.

Also, if you have any starter tips and the like, I'd love to hear. I want to get a good start to working on this for any future game projects I want to be a part of, and start out college already having a good understanding of the concepts behind 3D design to help me get through more smoothly.
8  Developer / Collaborations / Seeking 2 Sprite Artists For Beat-Em-Up Game on: September 15, 2012, 10:41:12 AM
Hello. I'm part of a small team currently working on a beat-em-up game called Machofistia, and we're looking for some additional artists to assist us with progressing the game.

The gameplay is going to be in a similar vein to games such as Double Dragon and River City Ransom in design. The story follows James Rager, a recent high school graduate who has to save his hometown from a businessman named Keith White who has taken over while he's been away from home training. The game takes place primarily in an incredibly large skyscraper split into various different floors, each following a different theme with different enemies.

Here's some current concept/sprite art for the project so far:

James Rager Sprites by Oolong

Thug Sprite by Oolong

James and Oliver Color Pass by Sparky

James Rager by Geers

Head Chef by Sparky

Skyscraper Concept by Nymine

We're looking for two sprite artists for the project. We need one person who can do level art, such as tilesets and backgrounds. We need another to work with our current sprite artist to finish more character/enemy sprites.

The team is currently made up of four concept artists, one sprite artist, a coder, myself(project manager and lead storywriter), and a musical artist to provide the game with a soundtrack later on. For most of us this is our first game project, so please don't sign on expecting a professional team with veteran experience. We are serious about completing the game, however, and that is why we are looking for additional help.

If you are interested, please either reply here with some examples of your work or e-mail [email protected] with the same. Also, a Skype account is important as we keep up with each other primarily through Skype.

Thanks for your time!
