My background is actually in physics (and theoretical physics at that). I got into making games for two reasons. For starters, I always love a good casual game. And second, games are one of the few ways to make abstract concepts hands-on. I think topics like relativity and quantum mechanics are amazing(!), and I quite enjoy slogging through the math to understand those concepts. Most people don't.
So to understand relativity, why not just make a game where you can travel near the speed of light? Ah yes, I did, the flash game Velocity Raptor:

More recently I made and released an iOS game about particle physics, Agent Higgs:

So that's where I'm coming from. I'm always looking for a new way to show off some neat science. Are these just your ol' stale educational games? I sure hope not. But you can judge for yourself.
