Do I have to feel weird for beeing at parry with bare hands than with shields or stuff designed to make parries easier? Well I already feel weird about it but this is kind of wrong. Makes less weight though...

You can't just go around slapping swords out of the air buddy.

Cellusious is canvas, colours is art.

Storyline map - Crows
You'll find crows sitting around on the trees, church bell tower etc. and if something disturbs them, they will fly away with "kraa-kraa" sounds. It adds a lot to the ambient.

Ambient crows are the best crows.

Update: Mocked up more tiles and creatures for Strange and Charmed. Strange is a combination of Aztec and Octopus, and Charmed is a combination of Tech, Marble Cities and Max Ernst-style birdmen. I also started to prototype some anims, like the demon dog below. And redid the humanoid walk cycle, looks a lot better now.

I want plushies of all your pixel demons, they're so cute!

Spec work.

Your'e pixel art is some or the best ever. This brings to mind a discussion about using odd color combinations, vibrant and dark colors being mixed in a way the hues wouldn't usually communicate. The way you handled the colors reminds me of Aliens Infestation.

well, it would seem your plan of attack should be to stop watching so much anime. do you know how much cultural produce is out there? go to a film festival. read a book, the kind with words and no pictures of near naked muscular men wearing their girlfriend's gym clothes. you know what will stop you being sad when you write a sad thing? living the rest of your god damn life. expand your frame of reference. you're young and just saying "bdurr get more life experience" is unhelpful, but we are more than merely the lenses of our personal experiences. expand your frame of reference. goku can't help you now. watch krapp's last tape. read diary of a bad year. cast aside the droll childish fantasies of Captain American and his Norse Pal.

life=changed
353  Player / General / Re: How do you keep yourself motivated mid project on: October 23, 2013, 06:34:30 AM
I have a couple of things.
1.
I like to go back to the things that inspired me in the first place.
Play the great games, watch the great films etc.

2.
This is a weird one, but sometimes the most motivating thing is just doing your alternative job.

I'm trying to make a job out of developing games because it's what I've always done in my spare time, of my own choice.
So going and working a 'normal' job, filling out forms or lifting heavy things etc.
makes you remember how much you love game developing in comparison

It's also important to make sure you don't have pressing needs, because having them hanging over you will kill your effectiveness at anything.
By needs i mean, social needs - maybe you haven't seen your friends in a while, or fitness/health needs or anything else non-work that will demotivate you until you deal with it.
In my experience It's ALWAYS better to drop work and fix these things, THEN get back into developing when you're happy

tldr: go visit your grandma

Depends how wanky and philosophical you want to get with it, I guess. You could argue that painting is a deeper field than microbiology on similar grounds (creative versus scientific) - to me the comparison is meaningless at best, problematic at worst.

...Either way, I meant the rocket science thing as it's not that complicated or that difficult to make a game as long as you keep a handle on scope and either use a "handle the technical shit for me" engine/framework, or have good technical knowledge. After that, commitment and a bit of creativity is really all it takes.

I like to get wanky, really wanky. ;;;;ooooo

As if owning a company makes you understand what your employees are doing.

He's their lead engineer...

Work, work never changes.

Blasphemy, work is an entirely different creature without coffee.
