i don't care how "creative" my OS is, i care whether does what i want it to, so i literally couldn't give less of a shit about companies "stealing" UI improvements.

for the most part i just ignore shit like ranks and scores unless the goal of the game is literally to get a high score.
for me they are actually more of a demotivator than anything (if i do pay attention to them). i admit that im terrible at action games and i also usually play them rather slow. so it's like, i used the resources the game provided me with to fulfill its goal, i don't need the designer to come in and tell me i didn't do well like some smug asshole just because i used these resources less efficiently than i could have.

older souls games didn't look sterile at all for the most part. there's "lived in" and there's "cluttering everything up with random shit".
anyway, im not, like, mad because of this or anything. i will still probably buy a ps4 for bloodborne lol

SJW are like pacman trying to survive by eating while ghost chase him. Pacman motivation is clear, but what about the ghost? they don't seem to have a clear motivation except to chase pacman in a territory they seems to have claim, they don't even care for the dot, so what's up? It seems that their chase is purely recreational, pure fun, because what the worst could happen? Well pacman could eat them, but then they endlessly are reborn, they can just retire in a safe place, safe place pac man does not have, and to eat them pacman need a finite resource that is the super dot. Clearly the ghost do not fear anything tangible unlike pacman fear death itself. Does pacman a threat to the ghost? well ghost could have cared about the super dot and preventing pacman from having them, but they don't, it's a like a bait, like they can tell "see he eats us, that's why we are chasing him" but they were the first to chase and to threaten, as they would not care of pacman and pose a threat to his life, wandering harmlessly around, pacman would have no need to defend himself, the bait is there to have the rhetorics pin down, pac man is the threat, either ways they will go after him, there is no win for pac man. Truly the ghost in the concerted effort to hrass pacman until he is no more is gamegater.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erxcIIB-5IYok so, i still don't like the setting and (visual) area design for bloodborne tbh. it seems lacking in atmosphere, like they just plastered the levels with lots of "cool" (i.e. tacky) looking shit rather than the economical and lore-guided level design of the souls games. does there really need to be a freaking coffin every 2 meters? it reminds me of shadows of the damned (which was a game that tried to be ridiculous) tbh. it also looks like a whole bunch of pretty standard souls enemies and combat encounters to me.

One of the biggest reasons it failed to gain traction was that drivers for it were generally broken or inefficient (especially with the important kernel architecture change), so people skipped on it because it was nearly unusable. By the time the issue got solved Windows 7 was coming out so everybody went onto that instead (leaving XP on the low-end systems).
i only switched from XP to 7 like 2 years ago

Why isn't a person who plays CoD and Madden near exclusively not a "Video game enthusiast"? They're certainly more enthusiastic about games than other people I know who play no video games at all. enthusiastic about videogames in general, including the bs that surrounds them not just a few select ones. basically people who participate in "gaming" as a subculture. and before i get any "where do you draw the line" responses, im not trying to establish an academic definition here, it's just that it's obvious what they meant

I have been meaning to do a thing where I play every game in my steam library that i haven't played for 15 minutes and typing up my first impressions of it (not in this thread tho).
