Some Great News... GamaSutra decided to put my story as a featured article on the process I took to creating the game with no experience in coding or game art.

Thanks for the kind words folks.

RE: Why Use Unreal Engine 4

I am thinking long-term.... (I talk about this in my blog post) by no means is a simple  2d game the only thing I will be creating.
But building a larger 2d or 3d game would never be realistic initially as a first game to make using an Game Engine I never used before, much less never having coding or art experience.

Most importantly, blueprints and visual scripting was very beneficial to create this game.

That fastest way I found to reach a complete game and learn the UE4 engine was to dive in and try to complete a simple game that I believe is possible for my skill set.
Many games never get finished, because they are too large. So I aimed to make something simple and complete, which I could update later on.

RE: Game Looks pretty repetitive

Yeah, it may be for some folks... but others really enjoy the high challenge with friends.
This is really a game about getting the high score.
I really just wanted to get something out there, then receive feed back and make some adjustments in the next update.

Each update I would learn more about the players and of course the UE4 engine, so it was a win win.

RE: This should be a Dev Log

Sorry if I placed this in the wrong section, I truly will be updating this game and posting changes and feedback for the game.
I did release the game, but it really is simply version 1.0. And will be posting back updates and changes as I create this game.

Thanks for the feedback folks, it is appreciated.

While Eye Man - Reaction Time Rush is a small game, yet it is monumental for me in my career game development.

Here is why... 5 Months Ago

  • I Never Coded Before
  • I Never Did Any Game Art
  • I Never Did Any Animation
  • Lastly... I Never Used Unreal Engine 4

I was so excited with game development and learning UE4 (Unreal Engine), I documented and journaled my progress on how I shifted my thinking, and made a complete game.

How built a game in 5 months with UE4, without any coding or game art experience what-so-ever

It's semi-released, yet I plan on keeping adding more mechanics and levels to the game as time goes on. To help me learn new parts of Unreal Engine and continue to add value for the players who download it. Below is screenshots and videos I made.

It's not a huge game by no means... but it is released and will be updating it and adding new features as I get feedback from the players.
