It's kind of sad that a kid morning show is the one to get these scoops, rather than a gaming show or site.

Based on what I have seen, I'd say they don't have more attack animations than they had before, which is to say that the attack animation is pretty much unrelated to the pokémon. Still I think those idle animations are beautiful. I wonder what else they changed...

I don't think I love it. Maybe I'm just too used to static images.

Well, I guess you still can play the old games.

Well, at least it's more than static images with stretching effects.

Finally some battle animation.

@ChrisWhitman Given the power Google has, I'd say it has been pretty much Not Evil so far. Users are free to join, to use the services the way they want and to leave. They log most of what you do, but they usually don't make it public. Buzz was an exception that was quickly changed, differently from Facebook that has those privacy problems every now and then. It didn't oppose chinese government at first, but chinese government IS the government of China. If they wanted to act directly there, they had to submit themselves to chinese laws. Even then, they didn't keep vital user information in China so they couldn't be forced to hand it over to the government, like Yahoo did.

Google was hacked. I don't blame Google, I blame China. As I heard, Sergey Brin never wanted Google to do business in China under those conditions, but he didn't get to decide.

I think Google is potentially more harmful for the internet at large than any ISP.

Google may be potentially more harmful, but many ISPs are being actively more harmful to the population in their scope than Google.

There is a possibility that such system could alienate newbies, since they would have few positive grades and could earn negative ones just by not knowing how to play. Another possibility is that a group of bad players notorious enough would receive far more positive grades than negatives. They also could award good grades for bad behavior and deny bad grades among themselves.

A further problem is that bad behavior in games is not limited to chat. The log could also contain relevant actions, like attacking and picking items. Yet analyzing those logs wouldn't be something most that players would do.

Every indie thing is swedish.

No one cares enough to steal your ideas, unless your idea is already public and already popular.

I do.  Evil

I will steal every idea I can, develop a game around them and never release because I'm a selfish bastard.

Can you recommend me some fan games?

I will never forget that feeling of futility and the seemingly endless cycle of death. Droop

None of these feel very iconic nor intuitive.

Yet, since the players should learn it anyway, it would be an interesting way to teach them.

The protagonists don't even have a good reason for doing what they do.

As far as I know it's always to help out a professor fill out the dex of that region, because they're all old bastards with broken backs.

It is kind of funny, because it's not what they end up doing. Usually the game is considered finished when the trainer beats the Elite (at least the ones I played). I wonder how many people actually have all the pokémon in the recent games, if it's even possible.

Quote
Trainer: Hi Professor. Have you heard the news? I have dismantled a criminal organization, defeated every single trainer, gym leader and elite in the world and captured pokémon only known in legends.
Professor: Excellent. Then I suppose you must have finished the task I gave you.
Trainer: What task?
Professor: Completing the pokédex, of course.
Trainer:Uh... actually, I only have about 50 pokémon.
Professor: In this case, I suggest you get back to work.

*years later*

Trainer: PROFESSOR! I've been everywhere, captured every pokémon and THE POKÉDEX STILL ISN'T COMPLETE.
Professor: You must have overlooked some...
Trainer: I looked under every stone and behind every grass bush. Are you sure those pokémon even exist.
Professor: If the pokédex isn't complete then they certainly exist.
Trainer: Yeah, right.
Professor: It's a shame. Well, you will find them, eventually. Since you are here, take this new pokédex. While you was out, new pokémon were discovered and the old pokédex can't catalog them. You will take the ship to the next continent. There you will find hundreds of unknown pokémon...
Trainer: WHAT!? More!? Fuck this! I quit.

Yo.

My name is Michael, and I am that guy who will not stop playing games until he has mastered each and every one of them (currently fixated on MrPiglet's Jed). I look forward to your challenges.

Megaman 3, beat Shadowman while only using Snakeman's search snake. Of course, no energy tanks allowed. Video or it didn't happen. Grin Unless you were refering to just indie games then my challenge is void. Sad

Well, in this case I would challenge him to beat the Reallyjoel's Dad Mode in Hero: Core. Cheesy

Whoa! Isn't that a little too much rage for a game that isn't even released yet?

I have some complaints but the only one that is actually significant is that the levels I've seen were too flat. The last leaked level I've seen at least had some ramps, branching and stuff, but I would like to see it more often. Well, even oldschool Sonic had some linear levels and since this is work in progress, it could get be better.

Any other complaint would be just nitpicking.

Since MM10, I convinced myself that Capcom is ripping off fans for easy money. Oldschool Megaman games are ridiculously easy to do now and they did not add anything that makes it significantly better. I understand that MM9 was made as a commemoration and had all the nostalgia factor into it. I liked the gesture at first, but if they keep doing it, it doesn't show respect to the series and the fans, it just shows greediness. There are 8 oldschool Megaman already. It isn't like they are making compelling stories to go along with it (Roboenza, seriously?).

Who, Me?

Uh, well... what I wanted to say is that I wouldn't want to see SEGA doing the same. It's alright if they change things. In fact, Sonic 1 didn't have the spin dash and Sonic 2 didn't have the jump action (fly, glide and spin more(?)). It's only natural that they add something and I think Homing Attack is a good addition.

Post-transition metals are also called poor metals. Huh?

374  Player / General / Re: Pokemon Black and White on: May 12, 2010, 10:44:50 AM
True. Each batch of "new" pokémon is mostly made of different creatures that fit the same roles: Starters(always fire, water and plant), weak insects, weak mammals and birds, and so forth. I don't see the need for new pokémon, what I want is different plots. Enough beat Gyms, beat criminal organization X, beat elites and then beat an extra dungeon.

The protagonists don't even have a good reason for doing what they do. What about actually exploring unknown places, looking for treasure or somehing? What about a pokémon war? What about playing as a Rocket?

Why does the panda have a penis sticking out of it's stomach?

I thought the same thing.  WTF

WTF is that supposed to be!? Who thought that water one would be a good idea? Piplup was bad enough with its giant white nipples. It's the second creepy water starter in a row.

It kinda looks like a snowman. Will it have ice attacks?  Grin

I would take grass one. I love the smug look in its face.

it's an otter with a seashell (they break them to eat them so obviously he has one on his stomach)

Oh, that's it? I hope it doesn't keep the shell there. It's creeping me out.

You people are all sick banana-eaters.  I'm offended.

I agree with the health drops, but I really like being able to warp at any time. I wouldn't like to have it changed.
