You could research some RPG cliche lists and/or TVTropes (or both at once). There are many common themes that may be used for procedurally generating quests. Many items of such lists are just complaints, but others are themes that can be reused. With some mix-and-match you can get interesting results. In fact given how some of the most acclaimed RPGs have been criticized for being too cliched, it would end up being at the very least an interesting experiment.

...I think I'm exceding the scope of your project. Well, even if you just want to create some introductory text, you can get some inspiration from there.

Are games alive?

What about a game where you fight undead?

4. would you play this game longer then 5 minutes.

I don't wanna sound like a jerk, but I believe the "R" in "RPG" stands for "roleplay", so even if you're going for a very minimalistic approach, I think you need to have some kind of story with choices in there!

You are a warrior that have to kill things, what do you do?

Rocks have feelings too.

Play the Annihilation Mode. It has a different story, no powerups and if you don't feel challeged, then you are a hardcore gamer of the highest caliber. I already finished it and a single annihilator, with its random bullet spawning, was the hardest enemy I ever met in this game (I didn't play Hard, but at least in Hard you have powerups). It was harder than Annihilation final boss and it seems to be even harder than Cruise Tetron, all because of the random bullet spawning. I wonder if anybody can take on those two annihilators with no powerups...

I agree that avoiding enemy fire, like in a shmup, is the way to go. Being punished (further) for being hit is not too bad, Cave Story also did this (OMG! Cave Story rip-off!!! XP) and there was no problem in it, it's just an added challenge.

Anyway, I found some interesting things.
In the Annihilation I found the grave of someone named Trollis. I wonder who was that... and I found some item that I couldn't take, it said something about confusing drones. I found Remar Games best times in Hard Mode. I can't imagine how any mode could be finished in under 10 minutes, even if you skip everything.

Talk about ass-kicking. I am being annihilated by an Annihilator in the Annihilation mode and I'm not sure if I will ever defeat it. I will keep trying, though. I think I'm close to the end.

You mean like the word "tiger"? Yeah, it seems to be intended only to refer to tigers... how primitive.  Durr...?

The thing is that "game" doesn't have a clear definition. By itself it makes the discussions more difficult, since people are using the same word for concepts that differ among them. Using a clear definition would put an end in many pointless digressions.

Does Paint compress JPEGs? It doesn't have a compression setting and it wouldn't be nice to end up with a image full of artifacts...

Run little guy run!

If you use this animation without moving the character, it seems he is dancing.

Is that some kind of torture machine for dogs?

Just finished Normal with 100%. I wasn't expecting the story development added by the computers. It surprised me in a good way. The ending was a little sad.

What came after it was also a nice surprise. Ciretako!? Does it mean that the Hero games happen in Iji's universe or is it just an homage from the game creators, since Hero 3D existed as a game inside the Iji's universe.

I think this is one of the games with the greatest ratio of awesome per pixel and almost certainly the game with the greatest ratio of awesome per color.

Still think that tile in the upper left corner needs AT LEAST SOMETHING IN IT.

No! It is a passage to the Nothingness. There is nothing there. A lot of it.

The voice chat only works when you are alive, right? So, if the player uses voice chat continuously, the other players will instantly know that the first player died once the voice chat deactivates. Still, would most players even bother to do that? Maybe ventrilo, but not this.

I'm all for it, not because It Is An Idea To Prevent Multiplayer Cheating, but because that seems to be an interesting way to play.

juste so you know: everybody  who posts dans this thread becomes automatiquement mundane and non-indie forever.

I don't need your acknowledgement to ascertain my indie status. Tongue

I just played it on Flash 9 and the beats are still getting off sync. I started playing then navigated the web a little, when I went back to the game's tab, the helper buttons were completely out of sync with the music. I was in level 4. After refreshing the page I was able to play from start to finish. It seemed to happen again in level 3 when I let it idle, so I think it happens in every level. Is the button cues tied to the music or you are using some sort of timer?

It's just me or the music in level 5 feels somewhat out of place?

Oh. Facepalm
I didn't think about it. You're right. It makes no sense.

Maybe she didn't want the Colons to find it.

Is it just me that hears Melly's posts in Pikachu's voice in their head?

Fuck man, I told you not to send Xion to get more virgins. Only half of them stay that way by the time they get here, if even that.

I try not to.

I like secrets in video games too, but unless it's an easter egg or something of little relevance, like Curly's panties, the player should be able to figure it out alone. Some of these secrets, hidden as they are, would never be discovered by many players, even if they replayed the entire game several times.
