this topic is art
face it fellas art is subjective. for one guy its just a piece of wodd on a balloon and for other people its a symbol of oppresion. thats what all art is.
i like jazz. other people dont. other people like heavy metal, i don't.

how about a bit of a change to how lyle works-
thrown boxes do extra damage, but when he is holding a cube he can't do his specials? that way he only needs an extra walking+jumping animation for holding a cube, and makes him more suitable to his character in the game.

i listen to music all the time, but since a lot of the time i'm making music, this becomes a problem when i'm making music i dont do anything else, but when i'm making a game, i usually either listen to teh music i've made for it already (so it effects the style of the game) or just listen to any old music.

Developer / Business / Re: Game Developers & Music Composers - How do you network?

This was a very interesting read, especially for me since I am trying to get some recognition as a composer. For my first project, an rpg maker game a long time ago, I was head hunted ( ) by the main guy after he heard the music in my topic, and was interested in having some original music. We worked kinda well together and I still post on the team's forums regularly, so thats nice After making a couple tracks for very small projects that didn't get very far, I didn't do much for... a year i think, but I was still making music and posting every place i could. Eventually (it was bound to happen) I was playtesting Probability Zero and Droqen (the creator) followed the link in my sig and asked if I would be interested in making music for him. So I did. So I am still quite a newbie for the whole scene, but I do enjoy making music and am fine with doing it for free until I am confident enough in my ability and speed in making it. I think it's wrong for me to request payment when I don't believe my work is professional enough.

meh spelunky is just another cave story clone
Finally, the haters go on TIG and post bad things about Spelunky without actually playing it. I can't even think of 2 similarities between Cave Story and Spelunky. The one similarity I can think of is that the games take place in a cave, and CS isn't in a cave for a portion of the game. There are many differences between the two though; CS is the same every time you play, there is a large and in-depth storyline, you attack using guns, and there are many other talking people. Spelunky on the other hand, is mostly random, the story line is "get to the end of the cave", you attack with a whip(unless you want to become wanted or get lucky with the items in the shop) and jumping, and the only people who talk are the Spelunker(level feelings), Shopkeepers(buying things wouldn't make much sense if they didn't), and damsels(help!). Leave the TIG Spelunky forums, JMickie. Never come back(jk jk). By the way, what's the difference between V1.0 and V1.1 other than spikes and the stats.txt(stats.txt was awesome but not worth the spikes)? ahahahaha i was joking man

i used to be very single minded about my music, but eventually after studying music for a few years i started listening to things differently, and appreciating why the tracks are popular.
I mean, i still wouldn't enjoy the music very much at a grind metal gig (i have been to a couple) but I can still see why people appreciate the music. Every single kind of music that people like is liked for a few different parts, some music you only like for social reasons, but then you come to like the energy of it and so on.
so yeah i listen to as much music as i can nowadays and get a little annoyed at people that dont like music for no apparent reason
