I'm curious how he's doing this, too. It's some mix of parallax and he's doing some kind of transformation of the roads that lead into the background. And I assume the same for the farmlands in the distance.

Well technically, shadows aren't blue, it's that everything that's lit is tinted slightly yellow-orange by the sun. Blue sky adds blue ambient to shadows. I see

When I see a pixel-art-is-overused thread I immediately write it off as just another pixel-art-is-overused thread.

Developer / Design / Worst/least explored game genres? Ways to expand them?

So I was on a different forum and someone had those things in their signature that you click on and they level up with a certain number of unique clicks. You know, they start off as eggs or something, then turn into cats.
So basically I wanted to take a thread to take these kinds of terribad games and think of ways to spin them into something that would be interesting.
Personally I can't think of any way to make this fun, it's more of a collecting game than anything else. I've seen some developers do the "follow my link to fight my guy" games, but those don't seem very interesting to me either, since they also are more of a hit-counter than anything requiring strategy or skill or even luck.

C.D. : A work of art! Actually it'd be cool to see this polished, it would sell on mobile devices like HOTCAKES!

I just got home with about 2.5 hrs till midnight my time. I can do it!
Edit: jk i'm too sleepy it turns out. If I had more scrap code laying around that I could self-plagiarize I'd do it, but I only just got back into programming games again like a little less than a month ago I think

Maybe, it could be done in phases, like phase 1: make houses with powerful characters (like for the bricks/furniture) phase 2: start in your house with new character?

Well technically, shadows aren't blue, it's that everything that's lit is tinted slightly yellow-orange by the sun. (thus shadows seem indigo-bluer in comparison) With a standard lightbulb, the same tint is going to be there, but a little more drastic because the light source is dimmer.
