Oh man I hope it works on my computer. I'll let you know if I have any issues on Windows 7 64-bit when I get home. Ogmo Editor 1 worked fine.

Every time I get bored programming, I write an obscure function that is completely unnecessary and I always give it a ridiculous name. E.g. protected function yoDawgLetsSetHimUpTheBomb():int { return thisVariableIsTheCapitalBAsInBoyBombMayne; } Edit: Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.

I've only ever taken about a half-semester of programming courses. I learned a lot about data structuring and stuff, but not things required for making games (e.g. animation, jumping physics, etc) This might be different if I went to a college like Digipen or something, but even so, I'm not sure the tens of thousands of dollars are really going to pay off unless I want to get in a job writing code for antivirus or spreadsheet software or something.

Haven't made a whole lot of progress on this. Since I'm developing the engine to be extensible for my Another Thursday game, there probably isn't going to be a playable demo or anything for this game until after Xmas.
In other news, I'm pretty sure I'll also make a separate shmup entry too. One that would be quicker as far as development time goes.
Edit: Since I haven't made any assets for this yet and have only been doing engine work, I'm actually gonna use parts of this concept for Ludum Dare. Instead of using my engine, I'll use Adventure Game Studio. I'll even redo the bear from scratch since I don't want to be accused of using pre-made materials.

@J.R. Hill - Heh, it's funny how everyone sees the same thing differently. The gray things in the picture at the top of this page are robot soldiers! They animate and explode and everything. Are you sure that they look like tombstones? I'm sure it's a lot more clear in motion, all in all I'm liking the vibe of this game.

Thanks everyone! :D I hope my third game can live up to the hype of the first two I don't simply want to shoehorn christmas theme into established gameplay concepts.
Shoehorn established gameplay concepts into a Christmas theme.
