huf! huf! huf! huf!

Awesome!  Although the side-view seems to be missing elbows.  And maybe arm bones altogether.

Ending 2 was the most hilarious, by the way.

Someone will have to make a Declaration of Indiependence

But then again, if people united on the definition of Indie, it would no longer be independent, but united.

Awesome, but shouldn't he have hair on the rest of his head too?

Next time make the background of the text boxes more creamy.  Black text on darker colors is hard to read and not very eye-catching either.

What does I Dream of Jeannie have to do with anything?

Some really great points made in that article!  Plus, the redesigned Prince is 100x cooler.

My only question now is: are all the playing spaces going to be played on embossed hexagons, or will there be some variation?  E.g. grass, rock, sand, etc?

Oh man I hope it works on my computer.  I'll let you know if I have any issues on Windows 7 64-bit when I get home.  Ogmo Editor 1 worked fine.

In the future, game development will be outsourced to India, and all games will be "Indie Games"

My definition:
-Any game made by an individual or team residing primarily in Indiana
393  Developer / Technical / Re: Post if you just laughed at your code. on: December 10, 2011, 05:21:36 PM
Every time I get bored programming, I write an obscure function that is completely unnecessary and I always give it a ridiculous name.  E.g.
Quote
protected function yoDawgLetsSetHimUpTheBomb():int
{
   return thisVariableIsTheCapitalBAsInBoyBombMayne;
}

Edit:  Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.

Hot dang, how long did that take you to draw?  Like everything from the grass to the wall textures to everything is amazing.
395  Developer / Creative / Re: How do I get myself motivated again? on: December 10, 2011, 04:46:31 PM
I've only ever taken about a half-semester of programming courses.  I learned a lot about data structuring and stuff, but not things required for making games (e.g. animation, jumping physics, etc)  This might be different if I went to a college like Digipen or something, but even so, I'm not sure the tens of thousands of dollars are really going to pay off unless I want to get in a job writing code for antivirus or spreadsheet software or something.

Haven't made a whole lot of progress on this.  Since I'm developing the engine to be extensible for my Another Thursday game, there probably isn't going to be a playable demo or anything for this game until after Xmas.

In other news, I'm pretty sure I'll also make a separate shmup entry too.  One that would be quicker as far as development time goes.

Edit: Since I haven't made any assets for this yet and have only been doing engine work, I'm actually gonna use parts of this concept for Ludum Dare.  Instead of using my engine, I'll use Adventure Game Studio.  I'll even redo the bear from scratch since I don't want to be accused of using pre-made materials.

@J.R. Hill - Heh, it's funny how everyone sees the same thing differently. The gray things in the picture at the top of this page are robot soldiers! Cheesy They animate and explode and everything. Are you sure that they look like tombstones? Shocked
I'm sure it's a lot more clear in motion, all in all I'm liking the vibe of this game.

Thanks everyone! :D

I hope my third game can live up to the hype of the first two

I don't simply want to shoehorn christmas theme into established gameplay concepts.
Shoehorn established gameplay concepts into a Christmas theme. Cool
