Finalizing most things. Just wondering, do we have to make our 'back to main menu' command do anything besides close our program?

No external files and DLL's? Pfft.

Tryin' to build an arcade package so they can take credit for all the games?  Droop

Same here.
All I need is to get the menu finished, finish the last of my spritesheets and put together my opening cinematic... and fix a few bugs and balancing issues.

Zynga play by no rules but their own bland formulaity.
Thus, chaotic neutral.

Although, definitely replace Lucasarts with DoubleFine.

I think I've finally settled on a main character for my new project...

Shirtless = small Mario (one hit)
Shirted = big Mario (two hits)
Dress = Powerup A
Fancy Suit = Powerup B
Popping Out Of A Cake = Powerup C
Naked with strategic pixelisation and flashing = Starman

I don't see how you could do the whole country in two days as it take about 10 hours to cross any given province in the west. And there's the wide provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Yeah, can't really see it being done. :/ But oh well, those maps are wrong anyway, they even tell people to turn into lakes instead of roads. D:

I thought thye made it free a while ago... maybe it just seemed free to me. Sad

And also I do not agree with that pic with SquareEnix being neutral. They've sued so many fans of their works they probably should be included in the evil catagory. But that's just my opinion.  Gentleman

They manipulate and sue people who copy them, but so do all the bottom line, who all also have a tendency to abuse their customers in old ways (EA), new ways (Acitivision) and ways never thought possible (Ubisoft).

At least they throw us a bone. Activision would probably make us pay monthly fees just to use the service.

Don't get me wrong. I love Valve games and the idea behind Steam.
But I swear Valve employs a team of psychologists to determine how best to nerdgasm their fanbase.

I like how this is coming along

I don't like the "only one piece for person" rule. Is that necessary?
How about "only one consecutive piece", or "you have to wait x number of pieces before you do another piece" or something to that effect?

I like that rule. We could allow people to do another piece if we don't get enough contributors. Either way it's better this way to encourage the most people to contribute.

Also, I'm doing A9 RIGHT NOW.

EDIT:

No one cares enough to steal your ideas, unless your idea is already public and already popular.

Similarities just happen.  Shrug

Guaranteeing massive press on Day 1 for their Mac release by giving out a game for free that was practically free in the first place in the Orange Box, and cheap otherwise.

Oh you Valve, you are such brilliant trolls to your fans, and we come endlessly back for more.

TigworldS?
2193  Developer / Indie Brawl / Re: Indie Brawl: Floating Heights (Mondo Medicals/Agency) on: May 12, 2010, 07:55:54 PM
That mockup kind of blurs things a bit.
Like the level in Agency, it should be a series of staggered floating platforms, and those tall columns of light lift characters towards the top of the screen so they can get to the top of the tower/catch their fall.

There are a million games featuring black shapes as main characters.

I would love to see just a hazarded Final Destination... maybe some giant blades coming out of the background, or just general unpleasant painy grim stuff.

Very cool. Although I swear the computer says "Super Joe Robot" at one point.  Ninja
