I'm an indie dev who's just finished his first game.
What began as a simple, silly 'single mechanic' game (in this case, farting like a jetpack) became so much more. Like so many first time devs, I had the problem of my creativity and ambition far outstripping my talent. I was generating new mechanics and ideas faster than I can learn how to implement them, and ended up with this gargantuan offering.
The Game
Farting Felix is a mixed genre arcade game about a flatulent fennec fox. It features challenging, varied gameplay across 5 separate episodes. I wanted to learn as much as possible, so each episode is a stand-alone game that explores a different gameplay genre; it combines elements of an endless runner, an action platformer, a logic puzzle game and a side-scrolling shooter. There is a strong emphasis on fun, classic gameplay and a (hopefully) well defined difficulty curve.
- Get chased by a hungry monster in The Hills
- Fight off hordes of angry farmers in The Desert
- Conquer the hostile platforming challenges of The Temple
- Solve brain-mashing laser puzzles in The Factory
- Get your wish granted by Lord Stardust in The End
- Straight forward pricing - no IAP
- Procedurally generated landscapes and appearances
- 89 unlockable outfits for Felix
Here's a trailer which demonstrates the gameplay:

I hope you guys like it - I'm immensely proud of it, considering the journey I've followed from being a game designer newbie and talentless artist. The most important thing is everything I've learned from this whole journey.
It's coming out in the App Store around 12.00am June 26 - depending on your time zone, it's may already be available. If you want to give it a try (I don't think you'll regret it) you can find it here: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id618450061?mt=8
Cheers!
