I play bass in Sugarbeard's Band.
I also enjoy playing some Guitar, Ukelele, Jaw Harp, and (rarely) Harmonica.

I would really like to learn how to use tracking software properly.

What do you want eh Shrug
To read discussions without having to sort through a pile of hot mean spirited garbage, but it's evident that's too much to ask. I guess it gets old after a while when 'chuckle worthy' noise and subsequent back-slapping outnumbers the signal.  Shrug

EDIT: Sorry if I made you sad because I said mean things about you. I hope we can still be friends. Beer!

I'm never getting Bell services again.

My understanding is, this bill fucks over the ISP last mile providers more then anything. It's severly limited their ability to do good business.

The game Owen and myself spent the majority of the weekend on. Play a cloud attempting to extinct the volcanoes before they have the opportunity to burn everyone on the planet!

Our Second Game:

http://www.globalgamejam.org/2011/celia-first-last-pyrenean-ibex

On YOUtube

Second, was Celia, the first last Pyrenean Ibex. The true tale of the fate of the last Pyrenean Ibex, the only animal what has been extincted twice.

This one we put about 3 hours Today into it, we are all proud of what we have produced

389  Developer / Design / Re: Few-Turns Board Game on: January 24, 2011, 11:12:53 PM
Back at College, one of our assignments was to create a game that only lasted 60 turns, we found an easy way to make a hard end was limit the amount of cards to play, when the final card was drawn, the game was over after the remaining round. I think this removes some of the more boring parts of Board games.

I'll be over at Carleton Rockin' it, here in Ottawa.

His argument isn't that there aren't as many genres, just that the majority of games exist within a smaller subset of genres, probably 'shooters' and 'time managment' taking the lion's share.

Also, yeah, I'm going to say that you folks are being straight up disrespectful to Leigh.
392  Player / Games / Re: earth-shattering battle between icycalm and jason rohrer on: January 16, 2011, 11:48:44 PM
I would argue that there are really only 3 genres, casual, social and traditional.

But this entire derail is completely fruitless.

That Dark Ages game look really similar in the way the game and the HUD are placed on the screen, how the tiles look like and even how the figure moves.
Dark ages! Yes! I totally forgot the name.

This thread has really turned into something great.
395  Player / General / Re: Ask someone a question! on: January 12, 2011, 04:01:23 PM
You hire someone else.

In Arcanum what is the least painful way of performing combat? (Turn based, or real time.)

Different situations call for different combat styles. When I played I played most of the game turn based, but real time if I wanted to preform several actions quicker, like blowing the hell out of somebody with Molotov Cocktails.
396  Player / Games / Re: earth-shattering battle between icycalm and jason rohrer on: January 12, 2011, 03:59:15 PM
Arguing about genre is a fool's errand. Why waste your time deciding what arbitrary categories to which something belongs when you can talk about what makes it compelling to some people.

Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

I think that is a common opinion.

EDIT:
That or, there is a current perfect game for each genre and every game needs to strive for that high water mark, encompassing all beneficial elements of games before it, if that is achieved, it becomes the new high water mark. A game that doesn't strive for that greatness is a wasted chance.

again, not my opinion, but I believe a common one.

Thanks Paul, but I was never a follower of anyone. I think the dude is a pretty smart, though. On that note, I think you will be surprised by what I will say, soon enough.
Surprise implies expectations.
