This won't be anything like Toonstruck.

Yeah, wow. I'm terrible at communicating. I hadn't meant to suggest that at all. Probably what I should have said was something like:

I'm not very clever when it comes to solving obtuse pun-based puzzles in cartoon adventure games so it's a good thing this game won't be like that at all.

Eh.  Shrug

I'm totally gettin' a Toonstruck vibe from this. I'm hoping I'll be better at this than I was at Toonstruck. I'm not very clever when it comes to solving obtuse pun-based puzzles in cartoon adventure games.

In which splendorious way is this connected to Pioneers??

It's the screenshot Eigen posted through one or many filters, I think.

You could add a second kind of coin that only increases the size of your final explosion. That way players have to try to find a balance between increasing the number of enemies they destroy at the end and replenishing their life timer.

Have you considered adding authors like Edgar Allan Poe or H. P. Lovecraft? They might be too frail to handle physical combat well, but I bet there would be some potential for awesome abilities.

I was imagining H.G. Wells or Edgar Rice Burrows having some fun Martian based abilities. Are there martians in this game? I'm still not sure authors make a whole lot of sense as explorers during the age of imperialism. I think that's why I was so hesitant to suggest Whilhelm Reich or Aldous Huxley. I'm not sure they really fit the theme.

Computer console from Brazil?

Heh, whoops. Forgot to go back and add the link. I meant the film Brazil.

Really it's just a Fresnel lens in front of a tiny CRT attached to a typewriter.

You can only choose between the two hero's at the moment, Signal (olive colour, test card screen) and Static (purple and static screen). I'd like to add bonus ones in but I've not thought of much beyond a black and white TV that greyscales your game while playing.

An oscilloscope? No idea how you would make an identifiable character or how you could possibly do screen effects for something like that. How about the computer console from Brazil?

Two totally reasonable suggestions? Yeah. Thought so. Durr...?

The soundtrack is astoundingly good. Reminds me a lot of Amon Tobin and that's awesome.

I think I've really undersold the co-op mode. It's full of griefing friends potential.

Holy shit.

Will it just be working through the original levels or will there be levels designed with co-op in mind?

Super-Crate-Box-Homage-Co-Op mode?  Well, hello there!

From your error report I'd say you got it right as you died and tried to move at just the right time. Spring any recollections?

Yes that sounds entirely likely. I played for a while last night and enjoyed the game very much. I would have liked a little more variety in baddies for such a long level, though.

Up till now only a few of the games I've played with my Xbox gamepad have had issues with the joysticks being overly sensitive and these always had a way to adjust it in game. Turns out Microsoft never bothered with software to setup the controller which means I'll either have to install 3rd party software for that purpose or I'll adapt to having to move to shoot straight. I'll probably just adapt.
