That's an awesome sprite you have there, good luck!

At least now we can see why Steam took so much time to evaluate a game and so much stuff got lost in the process.

All that crap was daily sent to just a few Valve employees.

It's only the first day. Soon the hype will cool down and the general public will stop browsing the service just for the sake of it.

Eventually it should become more like Kickstarter (not sure if that's a good thing).

I'm gonna put spelunky (slightly modded) on it
wish me luck!

J/k lol

Already saw Half Life 3, Turok and Mario in it... Valve is taking them out very quickly.

Also, some Portal 2 mods

Nice theme... I wonder how many flOw clones we'll end up with.

Playing it for the first time on my PC and it's awesome, really feels like an old school game, hard but satisfying.

The messaging thing and seeing how other players died is pretty cool, adds a lot to the experience.

Btw how do I write messages?

So, apparently Kongregate is now offering prizes for the best Ludum Dare games: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2012/08/21/kongregate-contest-cash-prizes/

IMO this goes against the whole idea of the LD. There's no way to check if everyone is really following the rules but since there was no prize involved no one would care to cheat (unless you're a douche of course).

Survive is also kinda similar to "alone"....

Tunnels would end up in a lot of digger clones.

Curiosity is the most interesting one IMO.

A very close friend of mine just invited me to his birthday party on saturday so... no Ludum Dare for me...
unless I can make something in 20 hours or so Huh?

A more "vague" and open theme is better for the competition IMO, a theme focused on a mechanic would result in too many similar games.

From what I understand, games signed with big publishers obviously won't need to go through greenlight.

But for indies, it's greenlight only.

Sleeping Dogs! Liking it so far... it's pretty much GTA in Hong Kong. The story is nice, you can see that some effort was put in the writing, the undercovered cop thing is a nice excuse for the game to let you play police and mob missions at the same time. Though, this lead to some inconsistencies (done a lot of bad things for a cop).

Also, fighting feels good.

i'm 33 and have never had that problem

also, sitting in the bathroom longer than you have to seems extremely impolite to other people who may want to use the bathroom and are waiting for you to be done. you might say 'well if they are waiting i wouldn't do it if they told me they're waiting' but not everyone tells you they're waiting, but they still may be waiting

I agree... but I live alone so, no problem!

You all must poop differently than I do somehow. Doing something else at the same time has never seemed remotely practical to me.

people vary in the time it takes them. for me it's extremely quick (maybe 2 minutes) but i've heard that some people (especially those with constipation) can spend upwards of 45 minutes a day sitting on the toilet, which seems crazy to me

i suspect it has to do with diet. it takes longer if you eat a lot of starchy foods (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, pasteries/cookies) and no fiber. i eat more of a paleo diet (almost exclusively vegetables and meat)

Actually.. I usually finish it in 2 minutes and then spend 10 more minutes playing or reading or thinking about life.

Now you need to have the "intention to release it within 12 months of the ceremony" ?

Not sure if that will work, for instance, I'm quite sure that Phil Fish had the intention to release Fez within 12 months of the ceremony, just like Monaco and almost every indie game out there.
