Just finished Max Payne 3, gameplay-wise I think it's the best shooter I've played in years. Gunfights are just as satisfying as they were in the previous game, if not more.
Story is kinda bad and Max is not as "fun" as it was. Also, I live in São Paulo, it feels weird to play a game where everyone speaks your language, specially the enemies, I guess now I know how germans feel playing WWII games.

The Canabalt short is pretty good, well, it's pretty much how Super Meat Boy, Fez and Braid are introduced in the movie but then it ends and there's no "drama" part.
The movie is certainly exaggerated, but most people that I know passed through a lot of difficulties to become game developers, the goal of the movie was to show that to people IMO and it succeeds in doing that.
They went with SMB and Fez because those were safer bets, both games were extremely hyped since their announcements and there was a small chance that they would fail and the movie would get a bad ending.

Just saw it, pretty good movie, very fun to watch. Feel kinda sorry for Phil Fish, the guy really went through a lot of shit to finish Fez, though he sounds like a very paranoid guy.
Also kinda motivational, inspiring... feeling like working on my game now... oh, what's this? Some funny videos on Youtube? Screw you work!

And that is to say it's not particularly impressive as it is too literal and naive. Also it's a mess to play with the combo wiimote/pad (next zelda for sure), I don't have three hand.
I think (hope?) that no game will require you to use the wiimote/pad combo. You can use both on Pikmin 3 but the pad keeps just displaying a map, you can just put it by your side or over a table. I believe Wind Waker had something like that with the GBA, with Tingle helping you in the GBA screen. With skyward nintendo had missed the opportunity to show off the wiimote in a core gamer game because the game was weak, also they was no real innovation that wasn't lift from wii sport and that were actually improve from (actually they were made simpler and shallower). I can't envision them do any much better when other company have better take on the zelda formula (even in disguise) or better proposition on the same concept.
IMO, Skyward Sword was not made to bring something new but just to show everything Nintendo learned all these years with the Wii, the game uses pretty much every control method in Wii Sports and Sports Resort. As for the formula, I don't think we're going to see big changes in the Zelda series until Nintendo let another team work on the series, RETRO did wonders to Metroid, they should be able to come up with something. That said, Pikmin 3 started as a Wii game and NSMBU is just 2D Mario, can't expect too much from them. RETRO, The Mario Galaxy team and the Zelda Team should be working on something interesting.

Yep, it's amazing how Ubisoft was able to make a better use of the controller than Nintendo.

No, but it's being published by them and have their support... if it sucks, it's still their fault for not choosing a better developer for one of their biggest franchises.

Dammit Konami! 2D Castlevanias are one of the few things you're still doing right, don't mess it up!

Pretty cool rhythm game, really enjoyable gameplay, songs and nice art-style.
Can be a little frustrating though.

That goes without saying, Disney realized that the kids from the 90's are now grown ups that love to spend money on gaming related stuff and want some of that cash.
The thing is, even today, with video games being so big, every time a movie shows a video game it's in some ridiculous and unrealistic way, usually with someone playing a random non-existent 3D game with 8-bit sound effects by mashing the buttons randomly. People are excited because it seems that the people behind the project have some decent video game knowledge.
And I don't see why all the pessimism, I liked the last Disney animations.

Fun fact: That zombie in the trailer was the one from House of the Dead.
That's what I'm talking about, there's also a purple rhino from Altered Beast in there: They seem know what they are doing, it's like Roger Rabbit with video games (and no human actors).

Really boring E3 this year with not much new stuff. WiiU has a lot of potential IMO, but Nintendo failed to show it. ZombiU sounds pretty interesting, a zombie game with permanent deaths where you can die in one bite? And then start again as another character else where in the map and find your old character as a zombie? Dishonored also caught my attention after seeing some gameplay videos, it's like Hitman with magical powers! Good to see there's still people in the mainstream business focusing in gameplay aspects and not trying to make movies.

Got a Computer Science Bachelor's Degree, 4 years ago. Worked mostly programming games since then, which is cool at cause I got a lot of experience in game programming but bad at the other hand cause I have almost only experience in game programming and it's not easy to find game programming jobs over here. So, I've been mostly making flash advergames for Advertising Agencies, and boy, they usually suck. Advertising people have no clue about game design.
Also, I started recently a gaming news website with a friend, which gives me no money but takes a lot of my time... but it's cool, probably my most successful project, been invited to write on magazines and talk on events because of it and people really seem to like it.

Just finished Act I and I'm impressed by how many different environments the game has. The first Diablo had just 4 or 5 different tile sets for the whole game, Diablo 2's first act had just a big open field and some caves if I remember correctly.
The most recent game of the genre that I played was Torchlight, which had a little more environments than Diablo 1.
Almost each dungeon I entered in Diablo 3 has a different look, the fields have some variations and even some caves are quite unique (like the spider one).

It really bothers me that everyone shits all over Ubisoft for the 'always-online' DRM of Assassin's Creed 2 and SOME people online are giving Blizzard a free pass when they are (essentially) committing the same terrible practices in Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.
Double standards much, internet?
I played Assassin's Creed 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction which had Ubisoft's 'always-online' DRM and it was actually better than this. I could still play them if my connection was bad, the game wouldn't get lagged if I was using my Internet for other stuff at the same time and the only time I had connection problems during a game, the game paused and waited for the connection to come back, it didn't suddenly kick me out.

Just got kicked out of my single player game... after having problems with lag, in a single player game. Thanks Blizzard! Also, it seems to me that the game doesn't save the areas you played cause I'm always starting with an empty map. It's kinda cool cause then I always have a new place to explore and more monsters to get XP, but feels weird to have the world changing all the time. Not to mention I was just finishing a quest when I got kicked out. Came back and I was at the beginning of the map with no idea of where the quest is now.
