I liked Darksiders a lot. I admit it's not very imaginative, feels like the bastard child of Zelda and God of War. But it's the closer thing we'll ever get to a "mature" Zelda, and yeah, the temple set in a subway station is pretty cool. Felt like that snow temple in Twilight Princess that is just a big mansion. The combat is also very enjoyable, really liked the way QTEs are used only for the finishing blow and you're not forced to use them. At the moment I'm playing Sonic Generations and I'm liking it. Classic Sonic plays just like it should and the Modern Sonic levels are pretty fun. Surprisingly, the best levels to play as Classic Sonic are the modern ones.

I wish a cursor would appear when using the mouse, but it is in aphla though.
It's been selling for less than 12 hours, and over 50,000 purchases have been made. I like how there have already been more purchases of Voxatron than the first Indie Royal bundle sold in 5 days.
Well to be fair they already have some popularity and probably have a good chunk of people like me who subscribed to their newsletter. Also the Humble Indie Bundle is pay what you want! While the Indie Royal has a limit... I'm sure a lot of people buy the bundle for less then 2 bucks.

I don't know about the gameplay cause I haven't played it but... Zack Zero is definitively one of the best looking games in this IGF.

Some were.. I think... people were thinking it was unfair for a game that had already won a prize to compete again. And seeing all those games it's possible for it to not even become a finalist IMO.
no i don't think that was the point at all. i'm not one of the complainers, i think fez should be entered, but i think you should be fair to those complaining and not misrepresent what they said Ok, I really don't get the point then.. Sorry.

Everyone complaining about Fez have bigger worries than it.

Lot's of cool stuff in that list, got so caught up on entries that are yet to be released like Fez and Dustforce that I forgot about games that are already out for some time like Atom Zombie Smasher, Frozen Synapse and The Realm of The Mad God. Everyone complaining about Fez have bigger worries than it.
There's also a lot of games that look uninspired or just bad :/

Beat Hazard is probably the only other good procgen "based on your music" game, mostly because it doesn't rely too much on the music (same with audiosurf). The music is more of a flavor than a necessity.
Rather, I can see Audiosurf and Beat Hazard being fun games without the procgen levels. Hell, they already are, basically (Klax and Asteroids)
I disagree.. like I said, I really liked Audiosurf and Beat Hazard disappointed me, mostly because I can't see how it's using the music, if everything was just random I wouldn't notice. While on Audiosurf, everything fits very well with your music. Maybe it just fakes most of it, I don't know, but the result is very pleasing.

No one mentionned Audiosurf yet?
You can really see how everything is being influenced by your music. Since I've played it I've been getting pretty much every game that uses music to dynamically design your levels (Beat Hazard for instance), and all of them left me disappointed.

So if you have the possibility talk to your employer and ask if you can start working part-time. It's great!
I've been thinking about asking him for something like that... or if I could work from home or even get out of the company and get hired as a freelancer so I can have a better control of my time. Anyway, thanks for all the answers, hope this thread helps more people. One thing I learned is that there's really no easy solution here, I'm trying to organize my time better and sleep less (just 1 or 2 hours less, nothing too radical but it already helps).

Lots of cool entries from big names this year... and no Minecraft to uneven things out. This will be good! After a very agitated year, I got nothing to send. Oh well, next year for sure. Good luck everyone!

I'm not a fan of regenerating health, but I admit it works most of the times, maybe I just got used to it. Still, the only really good justification I've heard for it is that it helps level design: Since you always know how much health the player will have, you can have a better placement of your enemies.
But, it takes away exploration, something I really miss from the 90's FPS. Exploring the map, searching for items and health and finding a secret area full of items and easter eggs was awesome. Also, I think battles are more "dramatic" and require more strategy when you can't just hide for a while to get your health back. Making enemies drop health could be a good solution, something like God of War, I don't think anyone tried that yet.

I'm a big iD fanboy so I had to buy it... the game is running better than I expected on my PC actually, my GPU is a 3 years old Geforce 9600GT. Yep, there's a lot of texture popping but after tweaking with the video options (and after getting used to it) it gets bearable and the game is playable.
About the gameplay, well, shooting feels good. I really like how the enemies react when they see you and their death animations. The open world is ok, I feel it could be more open and let you explore a little more, but I'm still only 2 hours into the game, I hope that changes after some time. Only thing I'm really not liking are the races, they feel too out of place and unnecessary.
