chutup, I think I know the angle you're getting at. You are suggesting he can see into the souls of others.

Whilst I can assure you that it is absolutely impossible, I can't prove it to you, as the only person who can be certain of my role is myself. So I will attempt to address this another way.

If he had such an ability, it would be a very valuable one indeed, and not something that one would want to draw excess attention to. His actions do not in any way suggest that he is keeping out of trouble, and it makes no sense at all to throw yourself at someone like that when it would result in your immediate death afterward by the wolf's allies. If he could do such a thing, he would find a proxy. Instead of risking his identity with one person, he risks it with all, and there are wolves about. Were he indeed able to do this, it would be a very poor way of achieving his goal.

I hear that sometimes people who think they have such abilities, in actuality do not. One way to test such a theory would be to try it again the next day. I was open to this idea- however unlikely- previously, but no, it no longer fits. GeneralValter has been after me like a crazed dog since the first day. And if he thought I was a wolf initially, why attack me with every reason but back then, and change it after one day? If he thought I was one on the second day, what explanation is there for him attacking me so viciously in the first?

Is he the saviour of the town who can gaze into the souls of others? No, he is not. Do I think he has identified me as some sort of threat to him? Yes, I do. Definitely. His behaviour is bordering on an irrational obsession with me and he is doing and saying everything he can to get rid of me. It seems no claim is beyond him. The first day it was trying to convince everyone that I was weaving hidden meaning into words, and suspecting and blaming everyone, acting like a ne'er do well, and so forth. I called him on it, and he had the gall to claim something obviously ludicrous, and then say it must have been my mistake that he saw hidden meaning in words that said the exact opposite of what he claimed. If I remain silent, he accuses me of ignoring him, if I respond, he accuses me of slick lies and language. The instant that someone from the caravan (apart from Melly) was killed, the focus of the accusations is suddenly on me being a wolf. Annabelle and Tobasco's bodies were barely cold when he picked his vendetta up again.

He has something to gain from my death, and is wrapping it up in a crusade to hunt down the foes who plague this town. If he succeeds, no doubt the "evidence" will come up to convince you all it was a terrible, terrible mistake, and how anyone in the same situation could have thought the same thing. Oh woe, I feel so terrible about poor Garthy, I was so sure that he was a werewolf/villain/so forth.

chutup, I appreciate that you are asking me such things, even though I feel it is more likely that you suspect me more than GeneralValter. However, if you were to vote for me, at least I can be sure that you did so for a decent reason, and made an attempt to investigate things rather than just accuse blindly. I would rather you didn't vote for me to die, of course! But who wouldn't. Anyway, as I have mentioned previously, please have a check back on all the claims and accusations that have been made about me, and verify them with what was actually said. GeneralValter may try to claim the town records are somehow unimportant, but they contain a lot of information that case some serious doubts on the character of GeneralValter.
525  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XI - Spaghetti Werewolves [Day 2] on: September 29, 2008, 02:07:34 AM
Hideous, jstckr, and others- It's entirely possible to remain on the fence, but you do need to ask yourself if you're happy with the direction the voting is taking.

Are you happy that the leading candidate to die- me- is someone whose main crime is speaking up too loudly and drawing too much attention? While someone who makes random and changing accusations, provably false, can't even keep his story straight on why he is fanatically voting for and smearing me, and tries to draw the town into a state of fear... doesn't have a single vote to his name? While the other wolf (or wolves) can happily coast by laughing, knowing that they won't be touched while the tall poppies are being cut down for them?

I can understand one of the reasons people won't back me up here- they fear that they'll turn out to be wrong, and people will jump on them, claiming that we were obviously in league. "Look! They must have been working together!". I can't easily prove that I'm not one of the villains of this piece to ensure your safety, but are you really going to be content finding your answers from my dead body? Ask yourself what this means for the rest of your time here. Are you all going to be scared to speak in case you turn out to be wrong, and someone takes it the wrong way? Ask yourself who gains from breeding this culture of fear, and who has been encouraging people to be scared of one another. Being able to discuss what is going on is our advantage, and by remaining silent and scared, we are losing it.

Still, you should vote for who you feel is the most dangerous amongst us. If, after considering the actions of everyone here, you think I've done something worthy of my demise, and you're more confident with everyone else in the town, then yes, vote for me. But if you're going to vote for someone, make sure there is a reason. Don't vote to lynch someone just because someone told you to be scared of them, and not because the wolves chose a sure kill over one who might be defended. Choose someone because you've honestly thought about it, and decided that your choice is the right thing to do.

...

Oh, and one last thing. If you're scared of voicing support because you fear the retaliation, talk in private, find some like-minded individuals, and vote together. Make it clear why you are doing it. If we must, we can use the same techniques of the wolves against them. I'm ashamed that I even feel the need to suggest this, but whilst we have people trying to cut down the outspoken, it may be necessary.

Dammit, I was going to post this:

That's no moon... and yes, I am proud of this technological terror that we've constucted, dammit.

Too slow. Okay, plan B then.

Now, how do you defeat lead?

Ah, that's the way. With UNLEADED!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who expected the player character to be torn apart into a bloody mess at any moment. I thought there might be something wrong with me. Wink

This game is going to have some kind of warning on it so that diabetic players don't lose control of their blood sugar levels, right? Wink

Needs more puppies. Wink

Chuck Norris? Okay, you've upped the ante here somewhat, he has very few weaknesses. But I will rise to the challenge.

Any of the links in the first zillion results will help explain why these characters can defeat him. Well worth watching. Brilliant song.

As I have stated, GeneralValter, I am quite done with your accusations. I have no interest in continuing to discuss such things with you, and will certainly not be interrogated by you.

If anyone else has any questions, I will try to address them as best I can. But I impore you to also spend some time trying to figure out who has been killing these people. I do not want to be used as a convenient distraction.
531  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XI - Spaghetti Werewolves [Day 2] on: September 28, 2008, 04:03:07 PM
You are correct Cheater. It does throw suspicion my way, and I have acknowledged this. One thing to note is that it does not just throw it my way. I am forced to ask why this theory prevails that when two high-profile characters are not killed, it must suddenly be one of them who is suspicious, but there is no talk of the other? I wonder at this selective application of suspicion and theories. I am not accusing you, Cheater, because you may simply be reiterating a theory without having thought it through. I can't say your comment inspires me with confidence, though.

Renton, I'm sad to hear that I have not earned your trust, but I do appreciate that you are not voting for me, even though it would be an easy thing to do.

robotacon, that's a fair question to ask, and something I had wondered about myself. However, we seem to know about Annabelle's identity, which I feel makes it very likely she is no longer with us. It would be good to be wrong, though. But you are right to air such theories. We should share such ideas, not be too scared to speak up lest the town turn on us or night creatures consiser us a threat.

shinygerbil, it's a risk one can choose to make, and sometimes if you stick your neck out just far enough, you can get a little bit of positive attention too, while the forces of the night strike out impotently at someone who suddenly finds himself a bit more protected than usual. There's always a risk that you are not really protected, of course, but the benefit lies in the fact that the villains do not know either.
533  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XI - Spaghetti Werewolves [Day 2] on: September 28, 2008, 03:36:36 PM
GeneralValter, I am quite done with your smear attempts and unfounded accusations. It really doesn't matter what I say, you are trying to get me killed, and it will make no difference at all. Were I to wipe the sweat from my brow, you would accuse me of wasting precious water. Were I to put my boots on, you would say I was about to perform a premeditated assault on the ground. Were I to spring wings from my back, fly above the town to a chorus of angelic voices, you would claim I was simply trying to get a better angle on everyone to rain fire down upon them.

My offer from before to everyone is open. If anyone has any concerns, especially from anything GeneralValter tries to blame on me, then ask me. publicly or privately. Any concerns at all, no matter how trivial. Until then, I am not going to waste any more time on GeneralValter's assault.
534  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XI - Spaghetti Werewolves [Day 2] on: September 28, 2008, 02:50:55 PM
GeneralValter, when I hear someone making unfounded accusations, not only do I expect they are actively deceiving me, but I question why they would choose to do so. And to then openly make provably false, harmful claims in hopes most people will just take your word on it and heap suspicion on me without going back to check the town records? It's not going to work on everyone. People can go back and review my actions and yours. What conclusion do you think they will come to when they do that, and compare that with your false accusations? Consider that carefully.

It is clear that no matter what I say, you are going to concentrate on smearing my name as best you can. I'm not even going to offer you the benefit of the doubt any more that you are trying to rid the town of some menace. You are doing your best to turn as many people as possible against me, with claims that I am trying to blame everyone at once, acting as if I own the town, I speak too well, and that there is hidden meaning in words that clearly state the opposite of what is claimed. Even when I directly call you on it! Barring some hidden limitation of yours to lie compulsively, I can see no reason at all why you would actively choose to attack my character in this way. What it is about my attempts to get everyone talking, and track down and stop this threat that threatens you so much?

So let's cut through this nonsense quickly. You're going to vote for me no matter what, and I'm going to be stuck with the threat of death over me every day due to your actions, until either people have had enough of it, you kill me, or one of us is killed to frame the other. You've got your vote out there, and we all knew who it was going to be for anyway. It is clear you want me dead, and will say anything and everything you can to make it come to pass.

With this particular matter in mind, I would ask of everyone two things. Firstly, whatever GeneralValter claims about anyone, go back and check the town records. Look at some of his past accusations as well. They are, for the most part vague, complete fictions, or provably false. Part of their intent is to scare you into thinking I might suddenly turn on you and vote for you, making you fear me enough to vote to lynch me. Question what he says. Secondly, if anyone has any specific concerns that I have actually done something questionable, ask me. In private, or public, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to let GeneralValter's assault scare me off of the task of tracking down the evils that plague this town. I'll be keeping an eye on the motives of people around me, yes, and that includes everyone. I'm hardly going to be offended if you do the same to me as well. This is healthy. Do not let him (or anyone) breed a culture of fear where investigating suspect behaviour is somehow considered a lynch-worthy action. If we stagnate because we are too scared to speak up at all, and just cut down the tall poppies, we are going to die. Our advantage is that we can work together, pool knowledge, and solve this mess. Yes, there will be those amongst us who will deceive us. So we need to question everything. But we still have the advantage in numbers. Let's keep it this way.
535  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XI - Spaghetti Werewolves [Day 2] on: September 28, 2008, 02:49:30 PM
That was certainly a long evening, and I can't say that I slept well. The morning has certainly been one of surprises, and not particularly pleasant ones. Whilst I'm relived to have made it through the night, I'm not happy to find that two have been cruelly stolen away from us.

Anyway, first things first, we should all search Annabelle's residence to see what we can find- perhaps some wolf hairs, some decaying undead flesh, a murderer's blade, or anything? At the moment we have the unusual situation where Annabelle's house has been forcibly broken into, and she has vanished. The prior killings (which for expediency I will assume were wolf-related) all left a mauled body of some sort, yet this time there is none? I would suggest that there was another faction at work, had we also found a mauled body elsewhere. But I think it unlikely that the wolves decided to be quiet tonight. Still, let us determine that for certain.

As for Tobasco, whilst I could throw some ideas around about a setup, where somebody killed him and made it look like a suicide, but I think it more likely that he was somehow romantically involved with Annabelle in some way, and despair took him. Still, we can't just let it go at that and dishonour his memory, so I suggest we check Tobasco was not caught in some sort of struggle and that both his gun was used and was indeed fired by him, as grizly a task as it may be.

There's also something that concerns me somewhat. Assuming that the wolves would have only had time to kill one of us, why Annabelle? Surely there were higher-profile targets than Annabelle? I can see a few possible explanations. Perhaps the wolves knew something, maybe some connection between the two? Or was it random, and an unintended consequence of their actions? Or perhaps it was to distract and confuse us, making us think that one of the more high-profile characters in this town is hiding something, to get us to take care of their threats for them. Or, uncomfortably so for what it means to me, perhaps they were being left alone for there is a wolf amongst these folk, and to kill like this would draw suspicion in a way that does not benefit the remaining wolf. The latter theory does have a bit of weight for me, and it would explain some recent hostility in my general direction, were it to be true.

Kao, you should calm down. *puts a reassuring hand on his shoulder* We do have a problem here, and your fear is quite rightly founded, but we can deal with it. But we do have to keep our heads together, and panicing won't help us at all.

Hideous, it's worth flushing out the quiet ones, and making sure that we deny the killers amongst us the opportunity to coast by while we tear ourselves apart with accusations and suspicions. That doesn't mean we should start indiscriminantly killing, and lowering ourselves to the level of the monsters around us.

I'm not sure I really liked the direction that things went yesterday, with Dacke being killed like that, but I can understand (to a degree) the suspicion his quietness drew upon him, but the pace at which votes were placed upon him was... somewhat disturbing. I won't go so far as to blame him for what happened, that is a responsibility we must all bear, but I wish he did have a bit more to say.

As for GeneralValter, who hasn't wasted any time at all in trying to pin this on me, I have some additional words...

GeneralValter, your accusations have gone from the bizarre to the ludicrous. What exactly do you hope to achieve by continually making these verifiably false claims? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Before you judge, how many games nowadays let you go up to an ally, get them to throw up in your mouth, and swallow it for sustenance? Huh? Huh? That's a game mechanic all these new-fangled modern games lack.
Wait. Are we talking about Kirby Superstar?

Hang on, this Kirby game involves regurgitant consumption too? I thought it was a unique game mechanic. I must play it then. Wink

I never got to play sim ant, but it sounded neat!

also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-bU451uQPY

It was really quite awful, but I liked it. And I have since put my ant knowledge to great use, using it to fend off ant colonies should they attempt to invade my rental accommodation. Smiley

Anyway, off to work vomit eating into my latest project! Wink

EDIT: Just watched your video Zaphos, laughed my ass off. Very on-topic, yes, that's what I'm talking about. Smiley
