381  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: Wyv and Keep Preview! Come play it! on: July 09, 2011, 03:37:26 PM
I loved the demo! The puzzles were all very clever, and the graphics and movement feel really solid.
One thing that seemed a bit odd to me is that if one person has a box on their head, but they move over by about a half-tile, the other person can stand on their head and push the box. That's a bit of a confusing explanation, so maybe this screenshot will help more:

In this case, Wyv can push the box to the left.
Is that intentional? If it is, it felt like I was exploiting a bug or something when I did it. An extra animation that shows the two of them moving the box together would help eliminate that feeling.

Anyway, I enjoyed playing the game. Are you planning on including online co-op, or will it just be local? I'd love to play this with a friend.

The soundtrack sounds good, though!

The original game was for Ludum Dare 18, and the theme was "Enemies as Weapons". You can play the original here, although its controls are a bit too finicky for it to be much fun:

Glad to hear you like the looks of the game!

Oh yeah, I remember it now! The visuals have clearly come along a long way Smiley Can we play the current version yet?
The current version is in fairly early alpha, so I haven't released anything playable yet (well, I did a few months ago, but the file is no longer available). I'm planning on selling the game to a sponsor, so until it's complete enough to go up on FGL, I'll probably keep to just videos. I'll certainly let you guys know once it's available on FGL, though. Lasers! I had to hack around FlashPunk's raycasting a bit, but I got them working quite nicely.

This is kind of a huge bump, but I just played through this and really enjoyed it! The final boss killed me at least a dozen times before I figured him out. I played the game with a PS3 controller, and it worked nicely for me. Great work! Smiley

Guys, Oreos are a conspiracy!
Look at the front of a box of Oreos:

Now try adding the numbers of the letters on the title there. You have to exclude the letter 'O', since it's like a zero.
O (0) + R (18) + E (5) + O (0) = 23
Mr. Christie, you make good cookies conspiracies!

WAKE UP, SHEEPLE!

I don't yet, but maybe I'll try and set one up in the next few weeks. I probably won't have any playable demos, though, since I'm planning on having the game sponsored. Glad you like it!

Added a new enemy to my game. I haven't worked on it in a long time, so it was kind of nice to come back and find things working as I expected!

Since obviously everybody is waiting this game Wink
Somehow My Chemical Romance just doesn't fit with Sonic to me. Huh?
The WiiU looks like it could be interesting. I'm curious what the prices are going to look like for that stuff, though - Nintendo generally goes pretty low as far as pricing is concerned, but I can't imagine how they'll pull that off with the sheer amount of stuff they're cramming into one controller.
391  Player / Games / Re: EA to compete with Steam? on: June 06, 2011, 09:48:05 AM
I wouldn't say Steam is entirely to blame for that, though - the App store is responsible for bringing the expectation of incredibly cheap games to markets that Steam doesn't even touch. Still, it certainly has a big impact on PC games.

This looks great. Looking forward to trying it out!

Ah, okay, that makes enough sense. It's an interesting business model nonetheless.
Hopefully Steam won't be a monopoly forever, but I do have to wonder if having EA as their competitor is any better. These are the same people that have secretly packaged borderline malicious DRMs with many of their games, after all. As I recall, the EA download manager was a pain to work with, too, so hopefully they'll give its interface a once-over before this goes live.

It seems to me like Steam is based on whether they actually like your game or not, and less on how much the game is expected to sell. I could be totally wrong, but that's what I've heard about it, anyway.

Looking forward to Dungeons of Dredmor, too! As for your sprite, I love the way its legs flip back and forth. Great stuff. Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right
396  Developer / Art / Re: Flag as symbol for language? on: May 31, 2011, 03:35:21 PM
Sure, but what about somebody living in any country in the world speaking Portuguese? Or, for that matter, English? I'd say it isn't worth the hassle of mashing so many flags together just to avoid offending a very small number of people (by which I mean people who care about what flag is being displayed, not people speaking Portuguese outside of Brazil and Portugal).
Being from Canada, I have to click on a UK or US flag all the time, but it doesn't really bug me all that much, and aside from the article the OP linked to, I have yet to hear of anybody else complaining about it.

One of my friends told me that the same thing was happening to people on his server. I haven't played for a few days, though, so I can't confirm it.

Awesome, Geti, glad to hear you're working on it. Looking forward to joining in on one of those 16v16 matches.

Yep, I'm still getting the same error as Derek. Have been for a week. It never gets past "Authenticating...". I can play on servers if I directly connect to them, but that's it. It's too bad, what little I've played seemed fun.

Oh man, I still have one of those. If I remember correctly, if you turn it on without any games in, it tells you your horoscope. Also it has a nice d-pad but more importantly HOROSCOPES.
