If you're using those LTTP trees as reference for your trees, keep in mind that LTTP had a more top-down perspective than your game seems to have. The LTTP trees made sense in the honeycomb pattern shown there because they were being seen as almost directly from the top-down. LTTP trees looked like they were at about an 80-degree view, whereas your trees are more of a 45-degree view, if not less.
The dark blueish color between them looks gorgeous by the way. I love the palette.

Jeez, Beetleking, that's amazing. The only things that irk me are what Geti mentioned, and the soft gradients in the water. To me, it makes the water look a bit too different in style. Then again, you did say it's unfinished.
I have to find your game if/when you start making it.

You may be right. It's top secret though, I can't say any more about it. You'll just have to wait and see.

Thank you! It's an actual thing for my game. And to answer your second question: technically, yes.
305 Developer / Art / Re: show us some of your pixel work on: December 19, 2013, 06:47:58 AM
@Michael, thanks!
@SnakeChair, I appreciate it!
@Delko, can't tell if you're serious.
@Cellusious, that is amazing, whatever it is it's beautiful. Keep up the constant great work
@SolarLune, That's typically what I aim for!
I feel bad if I don't thank people for complimenting me.
Also if I don't post more pixel art in the pixel art thread. So here, I finished this up before I allowed myself to post this reply:

(the eye will be obscured in the game by a bright light shining from it, the red dot is just where the light's center is going to be placed)

@Havegum, I like "a" a lot! Really nice aqua colors all over.

@Neo and Storsorgen, thank you very much, I appreciate that.
One more for the road

Your stuff always makes me smile. I like that you always keep the pixelly edges and no black outlines, kind of gives it a classic arcade/weird 90s computer vibe. Hand Thumbs Up Right

My only complaint is that her mouth seems really high on her face?
Thanks, that's exactly what I was aiming for. I was even considering dithering the colors to make for a smooth PC98 look on the shading, but decided against it. The mouth is purposefully that high and small, due to this as well.
(like so http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/KimimisBlog/Silent%20Mobius%20Case%20Titanic/101101_175957.jpg)

you get free pass with animu because you can actually draw.
Thank you, that means a lot.

And so that I'm not just responding without anything new to show, here's this I just made as well.

Thanks, Jad! I appreciate the encouragement.
And yep, it's purposeful.
Alright, here's another

I understand that anime-influenced stuff isn't the most well received, but might as well share.

Woah, ok. That looks so endearing! I love this. And even though the previous version was cute, this is a lot better. Bigger sprite, more room to show details like the little eyelashes(?) on the eyes.

No. But the demo is still downloadable from the first post of this thread, if that helps.

I appreciate that! Sadly, I don't have any set dates. I'm still working on it every single day though, and I've been getting a lot of work done in this past week in particular.

I agree, you don't have to make your art exactly how it looks in real life, you can stylize it as much as you want and make anything, it's your art.
Also, ravens can apparently look blue in real life, anyway:

I think that it could use a bit more color in the shading/highlights. For instance, put a dab of orange in the shading of the beak instead of just darker yellow, and maybe a bit of greenish color in the highlights of the feathers? Besides that minor gripe it looks good, especially since you mentioned you're just a beginner.
317 Developer / Art / Re: show us some of your pixel work on: December 02, 2013, 09:53:32 PM
The bot looks nice, but isn't the top left highlight acting a lil wonky??
Thanks. It seems logical to me. If you move a reflective object down, the light source will appear to move up relative to the object and vice versa. Perhaps the problem is that I'm not doing the same thing with the other highlights.
While that's true in some cases, it would only look like that if the light source was right next to it or at least very close, or if the shiny object was moving far enough up and down to affect the viewer's perspective of it (moving above or below eye-level).
If this robot is being illuminated by the sun or some light far away, that little shine wouldn't move around very much on the metal.

It took me a minute of staring at this screenshot to see what was going on with the environment. I think the color of the building walls was throwing me off since it's almost the same color as the abyss below, making me think that they were a pit in the ground at first. That aside this still looks gorgeous, I'm especially drawn to the greenery up on the top of the image. keep up the good work

giant isometric(kind of) mermaid sprite. Her tail looks weird like this but it's obscured in the game, so it makes sense when you see it.

Lighting/colors aside- am I seeing things, or is that Sabin sitting in a booth on the phantom train?

edit:
Also, here's another isometric sprite I just finished
