kerning is waaaay too tight there. i like tight kerning, but here i think it's really too crowded.
uhm, i know what you mean... thank you, i think i'll fix that (mostly between the n and the l but maybe adding a pixel to each character too) edit: done, it's still tight but i added a pixel of space between to almost each character and fixed the L that was really too close to the N.. also the shadow now have a slightly tone of blue to make the characters contours less blurry than before, thanks Phil!

awesome! actually seems that you do backface culling, i mean, the ship seems not to be vectorial but solid (when it turns you can see some parts being occluded, showing that's a solid 3d model and not a wireframe)but it's still awesome beyond comprension.
can't wait to play it!

Of course, my theory, is that they have done it, and a million times over and over again, and im pretty sure, that piracy, from someone that never has bought an original thing in their lives, doesnt hurt them one bit.
eh? of course it hurts. Because without piracy that guy or wouldn't be a gamer, or would pay to play. Its kind ironic, big companies complaining about people pirating their games, its an unfair situation, but the prices, oh the prices...keep being unjust to the consumer.
people pirates even audiosurf that's on steam for like... 9 or 10 dollars\eur? So no, the price thing is only the oldest and most stupid excuse. Also if you don't want to spend 30-40$ on a game you could always pick up a bugdet title or an older one, nobody is forcing you to buy the latest fps around.

Your guess is waaaaay off. Very few games nowadays release demos. The only high profile demo I remember in recent memory was Crysis.
what? no way, any non-indie game has a demo, all the publishers require that, really. Browse for any non self published pc game you can have in mind and you will find a demo. Pirating to only "try" the game is a stupid excuse, also because demos are smaller than the entire game, easier to install, and faster to download.

"If I asked the other guy if he's speaking the truth, what would he say?" Would work, I think.
and then you will get stabbed by the one who stabs people asking tricky questions :D

I wish you *could* donate money to DF and earmark it for a particular purpose. I'd donate $100 if he would just fix up the interface and add full tiles.
i'll only if they actually make it playable on a pc that can run half-life 2 at 1280 and max details, witch actually can't run DF on a playable speed. This game could be awesome as everyone want but it's really coded like crap What about browser based games? Do you think there is scope for paid games that can only be played online? For example, there is reward for people that donate to play Dinorun (50 different hats for customising your dino), but that game has an online component too.
it is, but i think it's still a niche market, there are even several browser based "mmorpg" like Dofus working with subscriptions as a stand alone game could do... still browser based games are perceived like less serious products by the average gamer

"Hurrican Download it now Jump and shoot game with a protagonist who looks an awful lot like Robocop." WTF? Who wrote that article is a tremendous ignorant in videogames: Hurrican is a blatant Turrican remake... and if you don't know what Turrican is... you don't deserve to write about games.

Internet verification? Introversion do it. Granted, they seem only to be doing internet multiplayer games at the moment, but I'm sure they would almost certainly consider using an online metaserver for verification even on a single-player game.
No way, that kind of verifications are good ONLY with multiplayer games, a single player game can always be cracked, for example Half-Life 2 single player was cracked a bunch of days after the game release, but still, if you want to play hl2 or it's mod online, you need an original copy. That's because you can always crack it giving a "fake" validation or the hacker can simply destroy your validation process changing a bunch of stuff even in the most obscure of the disassembled codes. So as far i know, if your game has single player, your game will be surely cracked by someone. If your game is multiplayer oriented, maybe it will be cracked too, but you will lose almost nothing because at worst they can make the game running on a lan or hosting a desolated pirated server, even making who get addicted to the game to actually starts playing on the much more populated "official" servers. I'm not talking only about MMO, even a client\server system controlled by a main lobby server works good, for example almost no ones plays Battlefield or Counterstrike on pirated servers... If your game has single player, you can't really do anything

i seconded Dryoshock, and the city would be Crapture.
“Is an indie developer not entitled to the sweat of his brow? No says the man in the Microsoft, it belongs to the Live. No says the man in the Sony, it belongs to PSN. No says the man in Nintendo, it belongs to everwiione. I rejected those ideas, instead ...I CHOOSE THE MAYBE POSSIBLE, I CHOOSE CRAPTURE!"
A city where everyone is free to experiment new indie gameplays using plasmids. But something gone wrong.

maybe I should tone down the scanline, though I haven't decided yet if I want the game to be painful to look at or not you need to make the sprites flickers faster, appearing like ghosts in those moments and not simply blinking or that will be only annoying, aside of that, it looks very good! oh also, you don't need to do that big scanlines, they're not pixels, you can so very small lines using a line of 1 real pixel height and like a 5 pixels space between lines and i think the effect will be more realistic! looking foward for another demo
