The sun is out, and lately all I can think about is sitting in a pub or cafe and making sweet sweet games!

Time for jam revival?  Grin

/bumping old topic as it has some relevant discussion.

362  Community / Townhall / Multimedia Fusion 2 Flash runtime has been released :) on: March 05, 2010, 04:33:55 PM
Well, wasn't sure if this is the right place to post, but I guess it's an announcement for those who use or who are familiar with MMF2  Smiley And I'm kinda excited about it.

Yves over at Clickteam has recently (within the past hour) released the flash runtime for Multimedia Fusion 2. The price seems quite reasonable and it will be interesting to see where things go from here I guess, in terms of seeing click-flash games becoming noticed.

Anyway, more info can be found on the following link:

Edit: Actually this may want to be moved to general chat or indie games section?

Yeah but it reminded me of a certain character he had set as an avatar somewhere, blown up pixels and wobbling slightly.

371  Community / Townhall / Re: Jason Rohrer's Passage in 10 seconds as interpreted by me on: February 20, 2010, 07:22:07 PM
Granted, it's a form of art, and yes of course all video games are a form of art.

But I draw the line when something that looks like it could be made in a night (or probably less) with poor graphics and gameplay is excused because(to quote wiki):

"The game lasts exactly five minutes long, and focuses on life, mortality and the costs and benefits of marriage."

I don't think Ive ever heard such waffle. If we're supposed to look that deep and come up with such ridiculous conclusions, he may aswell give us a blank screen to look at so we can imagine it without having to look at the graphics.

There are people in the community who try so much harder and put so much more effort and time into making games or coming up with unique ideas, yet certain artists blaggers become substantially more recognised by trying to rebel by being the indie game's answer to Tracey Emin. Although, to be fair, she can actually draw in the first place Giggle

372  Community / Townhall / Re: Jason Rohrer's Passage in 10 seconds as interpreted by me on: February 20, 2010, 06:51:50 PM
"The reason I thought Passage was "deep", was the fact that it could be interpreted on many different levels"

Like any other game can be.

These kind of "games" remind me of the people who weren't very good at the practical side of my university course, but got higher grades than everyone else because they had the capability to blag their way out of it in the final dissertation essays, waffling about a load of crap and churning out excuses as to why their work should be accepted.
