Even though art design might look a bit generic at the first glance, I think it still has some kind of distinct style I can instantly recognize. Or perhaps I have just learnt to associate it to Souls games

How exactly I should get Ankh to appear in Spring in the Sky? I looked into wiki and it said I'd have to place weight on dais at the bottom of the level. I did it but ankh didn't appear in the boat on upper part of the level. Is there something I'm missing or is this a bug?

Developer / Art / Learning digital painting

For most of my art I have been drawing lines with ink, then scanning and coloring them digitally. While this works most of the time and lends certain style to my works, I think it is about the time for me to learn to paint digitally from start to finish. Problem is that I don't know exactly how.
Yes, I think I understand usage of Photoshop and I have painted a bit in real life but something in transferring these skills in digital seems a bit difficult or at least confusing to me. Any tips for artist who have some experience with more or less traditional work to do the full leap to digital world?
I'm mostly interested in workflow, painting process and tools you use. For example I don't really know how to start with brushes and work with them, since most of digital art seems to "hide" the process very well compared to traditional work where usually I can see how something is done.

Yulia is his katana afaik. Logan gets rather crazy just before he goes hollow, so it seems like rambling etc. is the first stage of hollowing or something.
Going hollow reminds me a lot of getting "forged" in Robin Hobb's Farseer books. In them pirates captured whole villages and then sent ultimatum to the kingdom, where they demanded gold for killing villagers, otherwise they would release them. Turned out they had done something to villagers, which removed all of their capacity to empathy, love, compassion etc. while still preserving their skills, logic etc. Forged people basically attacked anyone to get their cape, food or whatever and if needed killed to do so.

Anyone having trouble in Sakit (statue boss)? The collision box in this boss seems a bit off. Often my whip clearly contacts the face sprite wise but it doesn't detect it. I try to move closer but then I get damage from touching him. I managed to strike his face armor off, but died after that :/

I was talking about how the story telling was structured, not game's linearity or openness. What I meant to say that there really is a storytelling method which works great by leaving blanks to correct places and using non-traditional sequence or storytelling methods. It has been used long time in literature and movies. It is basically different storytelling method than traditional one. Some people like it, some people don't, though I think many people don't like them because they have wrong expectations of it.

I think that DkS's story is very good in similar way as some open ended (or rather fully open) short stories and novels can be. If you expect an epic linear tale you probably will be disappointed and call it bad, while in reality it is just different.

As far as I can tell, nobody goes hollow without dying horribly multiple times... so I dunno. Rather nobody goes hollow if they are in human form I guess. Though I think it might be possible that going hollow is more or less random but humanity protects one from it, which would explain why people pursue it more or less. After all npc you kill gives you humanity. Staying at safe places to avoid losing it seems to be the strategy of crestfallen warrior who don't dare to venture out of Firelink.

Why not just get away and live a happy undead life? Because eventually you go hollow. Basically one could say that the motivation is to lift your curse and the "chosen warrior" is best hope for that. I also think that souls is central to this game, since all power of the lords came from them. However, humanity seems like the deeper concept in this game like souls were in DS.
