I'm a little surprised at how fast this thread went south. Some people here have some very misinformed ideas of what cloning is and how it would work. Also, pfft, SOULS. Soul is a food and a genre of music. We are all meat. Deal with it.

Even then you'd have to take into account that having sold the game at $30 for a year or so they probably already saturated the market of people willing to pay $30 for the game.

If you look at the Wikipedia article for Heart of Darkness, you'll see a number of different interpretations. Did Joseph Conrad really intend any of them when he wrote the novel? We don't know. In the past, artists have not chosen the meaning for their work. The artist creates the basic framework and the audiences creates the meaning. My brother likes to blame the rise of DVD extra features for this trend of explanation; because of this, he was impressed by David Lynch's decision to release Mulholland Drive without any DVD extras. I see where he's coming from here, though I'm still not certain to what extent I agree with that analysis (whether the DVD extras are symptom or cause is not something I'm prepared to state). I do think that, whichever method is better (if better even means anything in this context), abdication of authorship is SEVERELY under-exercised in art, particularly popular art, today. To me, as an artist, it's just as interesting to see what the audience thinks a piece is about as to see what the artist thinks it's about. I prefer to take it even a step further than saying that authors should abdicate authorship, and I will even purposefully disregard ANYTHING an author says if I don't feel it supports the work. I got into an argument sometime back as to the quality of SH2's plot, and someone was pointing to this story guide and saying that because it was based off of some official guide it was definitive. I don't care about the story guide, even if it's official. If there's something truer and more meaningful to me, I will choose that over the 'official' interpretation. That is why art is art, I think.

I didn't know we're allowed to change our usernames through CP before I saw Dock's topic. CP has so many mysterious properties and abilities. Who knew?

Actually, I played QWOP with some neuropsych students, and they thought it was a great way to show how much the brain actually does just to get you walking around without falling into a heap. Cheaper than having a stroke

Intriguingly, given an infinite number of two-piece pie charts like the above and an even distribution of slice ratios, the purple slice actually represents the proportion of those pie charts which resemble Pac-Man.
edit: I can only beg you to consider threatening to give someone a taste of your Whitman sampler next time you're in a confrontation. Please.

So if people wanted the game easier, they'd die less, if they wanted a challenge, they could die several times at the start and have to face a boss with minimal equipment. WARNING POSITIVE FEEDBACK LOOP DETECTED

The stuff about the conflicting stories is interesting. It's so obvious now, yet I never thought about it that way. Reminds me somewhat of a lot of the stuff Jon Blow talked about in this lecture.

It's weird being called Joaquim, since nobody really calls me Joaquim, it's just Quim, like all Roberts are called Bob. I'd say it's more like how guys named 'Richard' are called 'Dick'.

Yeah, it's hot sauce with actual flavor. You can taste the chilis, and there's a little bit of citrus or something in there. It's just good.
