Because knockback also stuns and because that's basically the same thing Sumotori does and because it would be a really weak effect.

Well... if the character ate items in the game(I dont know if he just eats it or somehow processes it into something else because hes a robot) what if he just walked around and uhh, ate items?

that will be pointless unless the item appearance rate boost up. I'm tellin' you: combine the living wall + item eating ability into one (sumotori eating items? maybe but with less knockback)

If we can't have moving walls can't we just have it not move and be a wall?
No need to think up completely different ideas.

I don't think he HAS to be a wall, why does he have to be a wall when his main purpose would to be to destroy items?

Why does he need to be a wall? He never acts like a wall in the game. It sounds less like you're trying to create an interesting support character and more like you're trying to shoehorn a character into the game.
Destroying items is lame. Does anyone actually get excited when they get Munchlax?

No, but he DOES extend his body, and in a 2D game that would act as a wall.
And frankly, there are characters who have negative and positive effects. I see nothing wrong with having a Munchlax, as it adds more variety to the support characters. I don't get excited when I see him, but it does change my strategy, because I start running for the good items when he's around. It's an interesting game-changer.
I suggest that perhaps he eats items, and when he's eaten around 3, he'll suddenly become a wall.

I'm going to veto this idea. It's a lot of work for a support character that would be little more than a mild annoyance, especially considering the pace of IB's animation.

I agree that eating items is stupid. And if "He never acts like a wall in the game" then yes, you guys are just trying to stuff him in the game.
Remember, shoehorns are... umm... something bad that rhymes with shoehorn. You get my point.
On a completely different note: Moving solid objects would probably be a good engine change not for support characters, but for levels. I don't think it would be hard to do, although the custom movement engine might interfere with it. It would probably reuse a lot of code from moving platforms, which we are planning to add.

None of the currently-planned levels call for it. If it turns out that it is needed, then it wouldn't be a huge addition. But it's not a change worth making for a single support character.

Frogatto was suggested as a main character. He's not quite main-character material, at least not yet, but I think he would make a good support character. Here's my idea.
Frogatto - Shoots his tongue in front of him. If he hits a character, he grabs and swallows it, doing minor damage. After a second or so, he spits the character out in front of him.

not bad. anyway i was thinkin of the wall character deal and i remenbered a game where a character does that: Use Boxmen. if you never heard of it it's a puzzle/platform game where you can do copys of yourself and you can turn those copys on human walls. is just and idea in case someone still wanting a wall support character

Maybe you can extend that so he jumps next to another character and spits it on them, dealing damage?

I was originally thinking that another character could wait beside him and attack the character when he is spit out, but that is a good idea, too, certainly more in keeping with the theme of the game. Sounds like a good idea to me. Frikman: I don't think a wall support character is very interesting, regardless of the source material.
