squares are easier to program Smiley

it's an interesting thing to think about though. I struggle a lot with figuring out whether a feature is worth the work it requires. In this case I know I can't give up my grid because I decided to use it very early on, so now there's a ton of code that needs it.  It figures into the design too, because grids express distance, and that's important with my weird isometric perspective.  But if I were starting a new game it's the type of thing I would have to think about, though that's challenging for me because it's mostly a decision about visual style and I'm no artist.

I don't thing he meant to abandon the grid. I think he just wanted more non square elements, like in the background for instance. I think the very square appearance looks fine, as your in a big city, and most urban areas looks very square.

This looks really sweet...with nightcrawler style teleportation and all Wizard. My only complain is the character art though. And yes, if testplay is still available, I like to give it a shot Smiley

I don't have the spare time to offer assistance with testing this, but I wanted to post anyways just to say that this looks absolutely fantastic. The gameplay video looks excellent, reminds me a little of Metal Gear Solid, but much more action-orientated Smiley

Only criticism is that the health packs in the screenshots stand out like a sore thumb in my opinion, I'd definitely change the sprite for them. Other than that though, really nice work Hand Thumbs Up Right

Yes, I just wanted to say: do bigger tiles, and paint non-square things in them. They would anyway belong to a grid, but 'visually' you will break monotony.

As mokesmoe‽ reports, for the city the square look is ok. But for other locals?
Just a suggestion, anyway.

I want to test! I want to test! Crazy
I agree that the squares need to be broken up. Right now there are so many parallel vertical lines that it takes a few seconds for the depth to register.
Can't wait to get my hands on this!

I'm jumping on the "I'd like to give this game a spin and some feedback" train.  Looks great.

Yeah, so it was "done," but I decided to add one more feature.

Survival mode! This was fun to make cause I finally got to design some maps without worrying about stealth, which was a pretty challenging constraint for the rest of the game. The artwork will be done in a couple weeks and I'll send out new demos then. After that, time to find a sponsor.

The screen size is huge. Sometimes I can't even see most of the level. Other than that, it's fun. Hand Thumbs Up LeftSmiley

Knifing people I'm finding to be really awkward.

The standard screen size was also too big for me.  Thankfully, the 'fullscreen' option actually makes the window smaller so I could see it (though some of the text was difficult to read).

I haven't gotten to far in yet, but it's generally feeling pretty nice -

I find knifing to be easy after a lot of practice, but sometimes the knife just doesn't work. I stab someone in the back and they just turn around and start shooting me.

The screen size if fine for me, but I'm using the highest resolution I can, so that doesn't really count.
