I'm putting together a little game collection for my netbook, and I have a few vacancies. I would like to know your recommendations for:

• Sokoban (original levels preferred, plus the requisite ton of fan-made ones)
• Solomon's Key

The games can be bog-standard in looks and gameplay, I don't need any modern awesome indie twists or anything, this is for the Puzzles/Classics section of my personal arcade. The games must also fit the following requirements for my netbook:

• Fits my netbook's resolution of 800x480 (yup. 800x600 at the very most.)
• Very low disk space requirement.
• Portability. Shouldn't need registry or profile storage.
• Extremely low graphics requirements. Even something like Spelunky drags on this dinky thing.

I realize that this request is thunderously dull, so I thank you in advance for your indulgence.

Bonus section: I'm also looking for tiny, portable versions of the following:

• Backgammon. GnuBG is awesome, but gobbles CPU time, disk space, and demands screen real estate. I need something simpler.
• A Civ or Civ Rev clone (Already have C-Evo and FreeCiv)
• A hexy, turn-based wargame (Already have Wesnoth). I'd love to have an Advance Wars clone.
• A tiny, but classic RPG. (Considering Barkley: Shut Up..., will entertain others.)

NetHack is my all-time favorite low resource game. Steep learning curve though. Spiderweb Software makes some good low-requirement games too, but they're not free.

Got Nethack already (I have a pretty comprehensive roguelike section in this collection ).

Closest I could find so far is Sokoban++: http://www.joriswit.nl/sokoban/

When you open the install executable with 7zip, extract the game contents, and put a config.ini in the main folder, you have a game that's almost totally portable. Good enough!

The built-in tilesets for Sokoban++ are kind of ugly, so I co-opted the Oryx roguelike tileset and made my own:

Interesting site. My netbook has very little drive space and I'm not always guaranteed an internet connection, so browser and runtime-enabled games are out. I definitely appreciate the suggestion, though!

Well, Blades of Exile is free now, assuming you get one of the source builds. That's pretty entertaining as well, so worth a look.

Jellyfish Backgammon satisfies all your demands except portability (comes with an installer but maybe it'll work after you move the resulting folder)

I also enjoy his other game Critical Mass very much. It's kinda a turn-based strategy space-fighter game.

I never got into Nethack, despite trying many, many times.

Iter Vehemens as Necem (IVAN) is a really good rogue-like that's low req.

I would have thought for Solomon's Key running the NES version emulated would fit your requirements.
