Hi All,
I am one of the developers that created scale, 2009 winner of best use of theme at TOJam.
I know it has been mentioned here before but I have recently come back to it and wanted to get some more opinions on it.

Any chance of you making a distribution of it rather than have us run around and install all these otherwise unnecessary things ourselves?

[  I do like the idea, though...  ]

Believe me I would love to. I spent days trying to get py2exe to work. If anyone is more familiar with it and wants to give me a hand I would greatly appreciate it.

awww.  I know a lot of people have troubles with it, but I hope you manage to figure it out - you could maybe post a tread in the technical forums asking for assistance? (or maybe better still to try special python gamesey forums somewhere else)

Anyway, it's a skill worth learning if you're making games in python : )

Greetings! When not fighting crime, I help organize TOJam.
Just wanted to add that SCALE is an amazing game with a great new mechanic.
Like VVVVVV and Portal, it will make you think in new ways.
It's well worth any install hassle.

This animated GIF should help convince you ...

... not to mention the YouTUBE video (huge spoilers).

Watching the video, I think it's fantastic fantastic.  I can see a number of nice ways one might expand upon the prototype (beyond packaging it as a standalone executable).  What do you think could be done with it yourself?

I also think this is an amazing concept with tons of potential! Really clever and I can easily imagine this being developed into a major game along the lines of World of Goo (of course there's a lot involved with that...)

Wow! Idea: this + real-time fractals

Thanks. Why not try playing it?

This is tigsource. No one has python + pygame. I am suprised. The install is easy and it lets you play some good games.

One of the main things that we considered adding but didn't have time at the jam was the addition of other objects that stick to the same scale as you do, or even grow as the level shrinks. I think this could create some interesting puzzles. Allowing the world geometry to change/move could also allow for some new ideas.

That is a really neat idea. I have done some work with fractals.
Exploring the Mandelbrot set or even just the Sierpinski triangles with this mechanic could be fun.

It's not 'easy'.  I have three different versions of python installed on my pc.  I tend to use python 3.whatever, for which pygame binaries aren't yet available.  Pygame is not on the macports repository, and it took more than a couple of clicks to find the right file to download on the pygame website.  Just tried downloading and installing pygame there, but it seems the distribution they've pre-built for is different to the one I have installed (macports python vs system python...go figure).  Anyway, I tried, and I really don't want to install any more python distributions, and I don't want to spend any more time building it myself.  I'd rather this came across as an expression of interest in what you are doing than a rant about python (which I like, and use, but I have every sympathy and understanding for people who don't want to install other people's development environments to play games).

I guess I am used to Ubuntu where installing pygame is typing "sudo apt-get install python-pygame" and source distributions of programs are the norm. I don't have a lot on windows and have never come up against those kind of problems.

I just wish I could get py2exe to work.
