OK, regardless of how good or bad NightSky ends up being (I love all of nifflas' other games, so as of now I will give it the benefit of the doubt), I have to say that this really pisses me off:

http://toucharcade.com/2010/01/26/trundle-a-free-game-you-need/

I mean, cloning a game that hasn't even been released yet?  An indie one at that?  And one by nifflas?  Absolutely terrible.  Really, Nicalis should get some lawyers involved with this, at the very least to get it off the App Store right away (I don't think it matters that it's freeware, it's still a disrespect having it out there).

Yeah well it's freeware but the developer clearly has plans to make paid DLC in level packs.

I don't know what goes through the mind of someone like this. Is it just greed and money? I would be totally ashamed and disgusted with myself if I was in that Trundle guys position.

Here is the website of the company responsible: http://www.mobile-bros.com/

We’ve seen that many have been comparing Trundle with the up and coming Night Sky game for the wii. Although, similar in artistic style these are two very different games with no affiliation with each other…. I have to add though that Night Sky looks purely awesome.

Oh man, this is terrible.
Anyone following Nicalis's progress know they are working on NightSky for a long time and then this random dude not only clones NightSky but is planning to sell it. What is worse, NightSky may be accused of "rip-offing" this Trumble game when it's released.

Disgusting.
Clearly deserves the "EXCELLENCE IN: RIP-OFF" award.

Uh, didn't the guy just say that Night Game looks awesome? Maybe he just had a really good idea and never even knew Night Game was being made.

By the way, what's Night Game?

Night Game was the original name for Night Sky.

Anyways. So he says Night Sky looks awesome he gets away with being a blatant copy?

And the game looks exactly like it. How could he not know the game was being made?

this is Trundle:

and here is two shots of Night Sky (when it was known as night game)

It's a shame. But the only thing Nifflas can do now is to just do a better job than the clone. Copying/cloning a visual look only goes so far, as it will the substance that will set it apart.

Night Game was the original name for Night Sky.

Still doesn't ring a bell. Probably wasn't paying attention to it.

No, but at least he's acknowledging it and pointing people in its direction.

Well, it doesn't look exactly like it, but you are right in that there are a lot of similarities.

As for how he couldn't know, I think that's obvious. He might just not have known. I mean, maybe he's not someone who closely follows every single game being released. Maybe he's been busy doing other stuff. Who knows.

Well, obviously he does. Maybe he'll come by and shed some light on the situation.

It's a shame. But the only thing Nifflas can do now is to just to a better job at it. Copying/cloning a visual look only goes so far, as it will the substance that will set it apart.

I'm just wondering if everyone is gonna boycott this Trundle thing just because Nifflas got "ripped off". I mean, if it's a good game anyways, then I don't see what the problem is.

By the way, is Nifflas also doing that thing it showed in the Trundle video, where you can die and the level won't reset its state? Cause that's a nice idea.

Oh my gosh, someone made a game on the iPhone about a rolling ball and they completed it before someone else completed a game about a rolling ball!

Off the top of my head I can think of 3, including this one, but I don't even pretend to keep up to date on iPhone games. Maybe they're the only three.  Shrug

I can think of maybe 6 iPhone games in total, regardless of type. That's how little attention I pay.  Cheesy
