Tesla worked for Edison and fixed the DC system and was never paid the enormous sum Edison owed him.
Yeah but Edison died and didn't become a body of pure electrical energy maintained by a powerful generator hidden in the austrian alps

Edison electrocuted an elephant to death.  I don't know if that's good or bad.

Interesting discussion...

Sometimes I think Failure isn't even the right term in this context. I think it is all about the ability to find your own solutions and have your own voice. Yes sometimes this doesn't work, although often it does but rubs against existing conventions. Where things become really painful though is when an audience starts attacking the problems or idiosyncracies of an indie game in a deeply personal way. As if they themselves have been slighted. I don't understand the excessive anger that some people feel towards an artistic creation, simply because they didn't enjoy it. There is something very uncomfortable in some of the more extreme reactions I think.. a need to dish out retribution for a perceived crime...

Just to be clear though, I am not saying criticism isn't valid, or healthy, but I do think there are people who have a strange attitude towards what they are owed as an audience.

I wish I knew more about ToT.  Apparently I'm not indie enough  Shocked

On topic, I think people are failing all the time.  Even mainstream people will try to experimate a little.  Case in point, EA's games last year I heard were pretty unique.

In fact, from both a business standpoint and a personal standpoint, I don't think you'll find ANYONE who will tell you that it's never okay to fail.  I mean people can say things like "Failure is not an option" but, in retrospect, they will be proud of themselves as having tried something.
