Very fun game. Some few big flaws, but all in all very enjoyable. Totally worth the original 10 bucks I paid for it. 5 is a steal.

I played the demo/beta back when it was in IGF 2008. Didn't even know the full version was released, let alone on sale.
It's as good as I remembered it.

Increase the speed of the mouse movement in the options until your cursor moves a lot faster. It's annoying to handle the menus, but it helps immensely in gameplay.

Hammerfight is effing brilliant. Go and buy it immediately. It's so bloody good. It's a complete package - graphics, sound, music, story, fun, upgrading - and has this really nice old-school PC game vibe to it, like Fallout of Baldur's Gate era stuff. Just fantastic, please just go and buy it right now.
And so cheap even at full price.

I didn't like the way the armory in the final version has little pictures of all the weapons on the wall, even the ones you don't have yet--it looks messy and kinda spoils the fun of finding all those wacky weapons for myself. So I fixed it. Replace the image Hammerfight\Media\Sprites\arsenal.dds with a single-pixel transparent image, and all those signs go away. If anyone's interested but doesn't wanna fiddle around with DDS editing and conversion, I could put up my image somewhere. You can also just delete arsenal.dds, but that replaces the signs with big black rectangles, which is kinda ugly. Up to you. (Is this the "official" Hammerfight thread, or is there another? I was kinda expecting more, given how much buzz the beta made a few years back...)

Does anyone else get the idea that the world / story is much bigger, but that you only get to see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of it? I've played it twice, and I don't think there was a huge amount more to it, which I found really sad.
Still, the gameplay is solid, and I love it! Some tiny bugs, probably due to the underlying physics engine, but still. I'm just sad that there haven't been any patches or content-adding for now.
Anyone know if there are any plans for that?

Yeah that's goofy fun and worth 5 bucks. I'd never har of it till now. Replace the image Hammerfight\Media\Sprites\arsenal.dds with a single-pixel transparent image, and all those signs go away.
Or you could replace it with a picture of weapons you'd like instead. Like a wall full of dong copters. I think they'd work quite well as a weapon no?

I feel like the game was never properly balanced with regards to mouse sensitivity-- this is the single major flaw I can think of. Not only is the game very unclear with the initial mouse calibration (I actually tried to fill the entire calibration bar up, which of course resulted in unplayably-slow copter movements) but it also gets pretty messy once you get into high-stakes fights with all the slow-mo hits and exploding-barrel time freezes and stuff. I find combat to be pretty bewildering at times, when it comes to this stuff. Otherwise, I found Hammerfight to be enormously entertaining.
