The flash game should have a system for players to submit screenshots to a database, and then automatically add them to the pot. Then maybe a system that automatically ranks the shots on difficulty based on how often players fail the shot on their first few tries (the first few tries so as to not incorrectly weight them as easy after everyone has memorized them). Add in a report system in case somebody incorrectly attributes a shot to the wrong game, and you have a pretty robust online masterpiece. Also, I knew Megaman 5. I wish this wasn't just first-come, first get points! "OLD MAN, YOU SEEK THE SPELL OF MASTERY." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMNk-YlpuBo-SirNiko

That'd be really awesome. Well, I'm still quite a n00b in Actionscript, so I don't think I can code all these great features. But if someone out there wants to do it, I'll definitely take some help!

I made a game out of this and released it today! This looks like a marketing scam but it's not. It's actually this thread that encouraged me to create Geek Mind. I hope you enjoy! ****************************************** How well do you know your video games? The game features more than 300 levels ranging from triple A titles to small Indie Games. Can you name those games with a single screenshot? Try it out! >>> PLAY IT NOW!! <<< GAMEPLAY TRAILER TIGS Thread

This is awesome! I got 8125 points before I had to go pee and lose, but I probably could have gone on forever EDIT: SPOILER: I didn't like that the image showed quick man from Mega Man 2, so I typed that but it wouldn't accept it, but it accepted Mega Man.EDIT: Final score: 41975... level 120 - 130 something...

I hit 43,600 points before I closed the game. It's really fun, but also really easy.
I'd like an option to "Flag this game" so that I could later write little notes about that image. For example, there was one shot I'm positive came from Breath of Fire, but the picture only accepted Breath of Fire 2. I wanted to contest that one. On the same note, there seem to be some discrepancies between how accurate you need to be. Some games will accept generic names, like some DS-looking Kirby game accepts "Kirby" as an answer, but you can't get the picture of Ganon unless you type out "A Link to the Past" (Zelda and Zelda 3 are not acceptable answers). A flagging system would save you tons of time since the players can handle most of it and you just review the stuff that flags really often.
The penalty for skipping is way too soft. It doesn't scale by difficulty, so I can skip 15 out of 16 questions at gold and still gain positive points. As it was, I was skipping maybe 1 in 4 maximum. But maybe I know way too many goddamn games. Anyway, point penalty for skipping should be at least 1/4 a good answer for the level, and probably should deduct a flat fee in seconds. Clicking the "hint" button was a waste of time and a crap shoot. I'd only push it because I was interested in the game, not the points. Maybe hints trigger automatically on a miss, or they are consumed if you are off by one letter and give you the points anyway? Maybe typing 'skip' to skip and 'hint' to hint would also work. Stop the timer for five seconds when you activate a hint? Accumulated hints give bonus time/points? Lots of options here.
This seems heavily heavily skewed towards Nintendo Games. I feel like Nintendo players will be at a massive advantage. Getting some more modern games in there (XBox seemed to only have Halo!) might make it a little harder. I also feel like once a player has demonstrated they know Super Mario Bros 3 from the title screen, a picture of raccoon mario is unlikely to deter them.
I could go on with ideas, but I think the most important point is that this is extremely awesome. I'm gonna share this with a bunch of people. Expect your page to get hammered over the next few days, dude, because this is pretty amazing. In fact, you should plan to spend all weekend fixing this thing because once Kotaku links it, you've got your moment of fame.

Yeah, I'd like the naming scheme to accept some naming alternatives. I got tripped up on the silliest things.
Also, the pictures didn't really seem to get harder as time went on. Eventually I just stopped, because it was too easy (for a guy like me.) It was still a blast though; I don't really have an opinion on the scoring system.
Although I noticed the music doesn't loop. I was sitting there in silence for quite awhile.

Got to 220750 points. It's a lot of fun but I felt the difficulty curve wasn't really there. I constantly got real easy ones like Pac-Man or Super Mario World even on high levels. It'd be great if the games got gradually more obscure as you progressed. I mean I guess they already do, I just wish it was more "pronounced".

My absolute favorite game of all time: What is that? It looks awesome! "Master of Magic". There's also the issue of different players having different knowledge bases. For a TIGster, recognizing Spelunky or Cave Story is a no-brainer. For your average Kongregate player, these are ridiculously obscure games. It'd be tricky to implement, I think, but if you could set this up to iteratively adjust the "difficulty" of a question based on how often it's answered correctly compared to how often it's seen, that would probably help a lot. For now, just setting up that players can submit new screens and contest answers for questions would be the best places to start. -SirNiko

Yeah, another thing: How am I supposed to input Yoshi's Island? I've tried "Yoshi's Island", "Super Mario World 2", "super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island" and "Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2" but it wouldn't accept any of them.

Oooh, yay! It's out. It's fun. Today I learned Windwaker is actually spelled Wind Waker. The more you know! If I may have one suggestion: a Pause Button would be really nice. It could consume one of your Skip tokens and display a Blank over the game screen. It's better than losing. And a "Flag" button would be neat. Keep it up. Love the presentation.
