I'm hoping to put together a fun public game jam for local Miami peeps to bring together the awesome creativity that there is to be found in this awesome city.

My question is what's a good way to run or get started on doing one. Finding a venue isn't a problem (most likely a nice 24/7 bar). I can get people to help, and can get everything put together myself, I just need some mentoring on what's the smart thing to do and learn from others.

Also, consider this as a call out to see if Miami peeps are even interested.  Shocked

any helps and non-helps are appreciated  Embarrassed

A bar, eh?  Personally I think the best jam location is a studio or office.  I think some of the European jams have been in cafes though, so maybe some of those dudes can comment on the matter!

Yep.

The main disadvantage is that it ends up a lot more expensive because of drinks & food.

Otherwise it's not that different than doing it at an office.

I have a few friends who own a bar/club space that is pretty slow during the morning (ie no activity) but very fun late at night. I was thinking it would lead to a good dev time early in the day and a good show off time at night.

I'm about 200 miles from Miami, but I'd be interested in attending if I can swing it.

I'm hoping to meet up with a friend I havent seen in a while to get this thing started soon but I have to see what will work best. So far I'm still leaning towards having a portion of it at a local bar, but maybe the development phase somewhere else and the finished products playable at the bar.
