Me and my friend are trying to find a game he played last year that came up in a Minecraft discussion.  Please help!

Description:
2d 3/4 overhead view(FF/Zelda)
Building mechanics
Nordic/realistic theme

Friend describes:
1. (in regards to the assertion that the game is "dwarf fortress) no dwarfs
2. 'realistic'
i.e. not fantasy
3. you control A person
4. you're in the woods

Any help would be super cool.  TY!

Reminds me of Haven and Hearth, but that doesn't really sound like "ul-gar" :/
