either generic "wow, awesome!" or arguements on Macs vs PCs.

I'm glad to hear the Game Maker community is just as amazing as it was when I stopped using that program.

I went to the YoYo Games website to see how it works for everyone else. But comments under the RC announcement post were either generic "wow, awesome!" or Mac vs PC arguements.

Anybody actually tried testing this thing?

To be honest, not this time round.

The last so called RC was so bad that I figured given the time between releases, it wouldn't be worth the time or effort it takes to download it, remove the old RC and try and get anything working in it.

When I did finally get something up and running in the last RC, the frame rate was so all over the place - sometimes it was off a shovel fast, sometimes it slowed to a crawl and I seemed to have no control over what or why it was doing it, coupled with the bizarre "put it somewhere between GM7 and GM8-ness" of it all and the non-native UI it just seems like a gigantic waste of time.

I'd have been ashamed to have called that "nearly final".

Man, that really sucks to hear about Mac issues with GM, especially that it's a port of GM7 more than anything else. GM7 is so bad compared to GM8, I really could never go back to it. Phooey.

I've tried GM7 in Parallels some time ago. I remember it working decently but failing to compile games. I actually installed Boot Camp on my Macbook just for GM (and a bunch of Windows-only indie games).
