In terms of more recent films, I always liked "Pi" and I love "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Mirror Mask," if those count.  Oh, and "Coffee and Cigarettes," too.

If anime films are allowed, Angel's Egg. It's quite surrealist, and the whole dialogue could fit in a single page.

By the way, don't watch the version with some live-action actors and scenes, that's some cheap crap an american studio made using footage from Angel's Egg. It's awful.

Amano worked on the character designs of that film, among other stuff. They look amazing.

Seventh Seal, motherfucker.   Cool

A lot more accessible and entertaining than you might expect a film about a guy playing chess with Death to be.

Mine is Wong Kar-Wai's 2046  [...]  tbh, I never watched it.

You should.  It's pretty cool.  It's really a sequel to Wong's In the Mood for Love, which is arguably better but has less sex and robots.

That's quite meta.
I do like a good doco about museums but if I had to contribute seriously to the discussion I'd say Branded to Kill was my favourite art film. It's not about museums though.

have you seen Herb & Dorothy. It really isn't about a museum but it is about art collectors. One of the best documentaries of 2008.

I can't write down a single favorite film because I'm a huge film nerd and love many a film.

For a while now I've been delving into more obscure Asian cinema, so if anyone wants Malaysian film recommendations, or whatever, hit me up.

I'm not really sure what counts as an art film but one that I really enjoyed was Moon.

Also saw Tekkonkinkreet which was suggested to be by Chevy Ray. That was a really great animated film. Really enjoyed it as well.

Daft Punk's Electroma. I think it is on Google video.
"Follows the history of two robots, the members of Daft Punk, on their quest to become human."

It's quite sad.

Man I watched an eppisode of that when it was aired on ABC the other day, my god I was dissapointed, it was like 15 minutes straight of them walking through the desert not doing anything.

there's this movie I saw ages ago called Imortal about egyptian pharos in a dystopian cyberpunk future that was pretty great (and confusing as shit)  But for top marks would have to be Paris 2065 - Renissance. It's a gorgeous entirely black and white cg animated film. Good plot but the visuals are breathtaking. Youtube it.

This shows how much I pay attention to things that interest me because this is the first time I've heard of it.

Maybe I should start paying more attention to things.
