Post game music that sounds strangely like another non-videogame related song. Here are a few old examples you may have heard before: REM and Megaman And here's one I found just recently, which I don't think anyone has noticed before. I was playing Bionic Commando and then I thought "wait a minute, this sounds familiar." Apparently, one Bionic Commando song was inspired by Dio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VebIeFTxpwECompare to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvjQkd5FuYY#t=1m20sThey sound alike don't they? I dunno about you but I can't unhear it now. Anyway, if you know of any other examples, post them here.

Amiga game with catchy music, created by Chris Huelsbeck, but apparently ripped from a song in
for msx (you have to jump to 3:00 to hear the tune)

Doom 2 has a lot of music ripped off. I mean completely ripped off, forget coincidence.
Compare:
- The in-game music.
- Alice in Chains
Of course, for all I know, it's a legit thing. Maybe Alice licensed the song to Id. Somehow I doubt it.
There are plenty more examples from the Doom II soundtrack.

No licensing whatsoever. Bobby Prince, the guy who composed the music for the first two Doom games, was also a lawyer so he knew exactly how much of a song you could rip off without risking a lawsuit. Doom 1 has plenty of ripoffs too, such as:

I can hear the resemblance to Porky's theme, but the beginning bit from that symphony reminded me more of a . One that I found is from Sonic 2 and Pinch Me by Barenaked Ladies.

ah I was just thinking of making a thread like this!
But now I'm having a hard time matching the songs. The intro to
by Pink Floyd always reminds me of Chrono Trigger but I can't find the right song. And there's a song by Led Zeppelin that always reminds me of FF6 but I can't find that either.

These aren't exactly identical but they are extremely similar. Especially at the start.

If I were to guess, I'd say they're both inspired by Top Gun. Don't quote me on that though.
