Hello ladies!
I enjoyed the latest Ludum Dare so much that I decided to create a post-compo version of my entry, Paradise Fort. However, during working on it I started to realize how confusing and silly the game was, eventually sucking the motivation out of me. I still wanted to release what I had got, so here it is - far from being finished, but definitely more meaty than the original.

One of the particular things wrong here are the controls, I didn't bother changing them from the original ones. You can change the mappings, however, through the "controls.txt".

The game tries to help you with the controls through a silly info text, but be warned that the controls are slightly weird.
Also be warned that the enemies start appearing only after you've built 2 cannons!

This game... is really fun. I would definitely appreciate more updates!  Beg

It gets easy after a certain point, but it also gets a lot more action-y. It's lots of fun!

I'll fix any blatantly wrong bug that appears, but I doubt I have the motivation to do any new additions.

Don't worry, after 6000 points or so the game gets very fun!

I love the game, but I still can't get used to the default controls.
I keep throwing things when I should jump :/
Can we edit that controls.txt file?

Oki, awesome.
I made an edit but my internets ate it.

I still love the game, although I run out of white stones a lot, and you can't "delete" ammo into black stone.

Yea games like this with too many keys I get them confused. I switched jump to the Up button and its tons more playable. Somehow keeping the movement keys together and the action keys together (instead of having the jump button mixed in with drop/attack) makes it much easier for me.

d-do I really have the high score?  Grin

I found a bug! The fortification I built above my island gathered some rain, and then the fortification was destroyed from underneath. The rain stayed floating in mid-air.

Nicely done, you beat my score by about 200pts(I'm Devlin, btw)

My plan is to usually excavate the entire island(I start always with a tiny island, and build a small, easily repairable fortification), then strategically place six cannons on top of each other to make a stream of bullet death which takes out just about everything in the sky.

I noticed the water bug too, but I decided it was valuable to scoring to not moan about it :D

Hey, Hempuli!

I tried this when I checked out the top 5 Ludum Dare entries.  It is quite fun.  And yes, the controls are very unintuitive. Wink

It would be nice to see more done with this, but if not, good job with what you've got.

I consider this game successful based purely on the fact that Derek commented on it!

Thanks for playing, guys! And I'll fix that water bug, it's a rather silly one, really. Good job with the scores. Wink

You evil evil bastard those god damn birds are draining my will to live.

In all seriousness, I love this game and spent like an hour building my first base up using every resource on the map, only to lose seconds before I built my second cannon when 2 industrious birds managed to fly down INTO my base and destroy me.

I love this game.

Ooh, an expanded version!

I'm sorry to hear it didn't go where you expected it to. I still think the core ideas area great, and this was a worthwhile experiment.

I loved this, it was probably my favorite entry last Ludum Dare. Thanks Grin.

PLEASE UPDATE THIS! I LOVE THE GAME! It's amazing. Wonderful. Maybe make the birds less annoying? And a way to get the island restored if it's bombed. maybe an easier way to get more rescources? Boats to move to new islands maybe?

The idea of boats might make the game a bit too long-winded - it's about getting high-scores, after all. I'm not sure what would be the optimal way of recreating the island, though I agree that it's near-impossible to build blocks the same pace they're destroyed later on.

The birds are hugely annoying, yeah, but they only take 5 HP!  Evil

It's still annoying. Are you gonna update it with things that heal HP? Or new towers? Maybe a way to get more resources.

You can already eat the birds and fish, so probably not. I was planning a third tower, but couldn't figure out a good design. You can get new rescources by destroying the enemies. Wink
