What emulator has a rewind feature?  That's pretty cool.  Also, what Gradius did you play?  If you like Hydorah you owe it to yourself to play Gradius Gaiden and Gradius V.
nesDS, a "hombrew" emulator for the DS. Though, I guess theorethically you could use it on a pc by emulating the NES emulator through a DS emulator Huh? The developer removed the link on his homepage, I wonder why. I also wonder why there aren't more emulators with a rewind feature, it's quite fun Smiley Makes nintendo hard games so.. manageable Durr...? Not that that's the proper way to play them, of course. Still, fun.

I only played the very first Gradius. The ones you mentioned are only for PlayStation 1 & 2? I have neither and don't feel good about using emulators for them.
Well, for now I'll be fine with playing Hydorah for quite a while, anyway Smiley

He made a couple twitter posts complaining about his inability to fix the blurry fullscreen bug. In response to one comment he said it would be fixed, eventually. My guess is he just really wanted to release the game.

So, I've finished the first set of levels and they really don't do the later areas justice! If you can make it past the first mega-level (where the path split recombines), there are fun times ahead.

There's still a lot of design stuff I'm not happy with, but overall my verdict has been improving.

Stupid fleet level Sad

It takes your dreams and crushes them, laughing as it does so.  (In case you don't know what level I'm talking about, I'm talking about the stupid level after the first fork where the two paths converge again.) I can get through the stage all the way up to the core, but then it just gets stupid. It's just, frustrating and not fun :/

I do like this game otherwise though. It's just, sometimes I die in a stupid way because the collision box is big and what not.

But I was never good at Gradius so  Durr...?

I would recommend taking the upper path and lower path before trying the fleet level. On the upper level you get the Scord, which are basically options but also block bullets for you. The bottom level has the lazer, which has ridiculous power.

Also, you get more save options after finishing the fleet level, so feel free to save pretty often up to the fleet level.

What. Madness.

Shall now try to beat ruins and annoying rock level. I hate the inside of the ruins part of the desert planet. Sad

Where did you last save? If you do the desert planet right after the open space level, you should have a shield with you for it. That's probably the easiest way to get through the moving platforms + falling sand place, and that's the hardest part of the level.

Nah I didn't save till I got to the Fleet Level. I don't think I have a shield though. Oh well. I've beaten it before I can do it again.

You'll actually want to get good enough to go through those parts without losing the shield, as the secret flower requires you to either have stealth or to sacrifice a shield to get it through the forcefield it's sitting behind.

This game doesn't seem to work for me.  Concerned
It starts and everything okay, but after the thing about being based on 80's game standards, it gives me an emulator-esque:
"RAM OK
ROM OK"

Then goes to a black screen with a big white grid going across it in the middle(left to right).
Anybody know how to fix it?

Just wait a few seconds. It's normal. It's also another arcade reference, as is the "RAM OK" stuff.

Fun times. With some more practice, the Forest which I had much trouble with at first is now easy as pie for me. Also the following Verminest. I could hardly dodge the multiple needles which those big "Metroids" shoot, only to find out that it's not hard to.. "dodge".. at all Grin
And I found myself a nice little path through the floating obstacles in the temple, which I can always easily take without firing a shot at them. So much for the "absurdly difficult" section Smiley

So far I've only saved once after I've completed the first three levels (until after Deep Space) "perfectly" and fully powered up, and now again after I've beaten Forest and Verminest the same way. Now I only need to go for the temple and Rubina, save after those, and I should be set up well for the fleet Smiley

By the way, I don't seem to get any "RAM OK stuff" Shrug

Really enjoying what I've played so far, seems easier than the first demo for some reason.

I am having some sound issues and also it lags when there are lots of things on the screen to the point of unplayablity. i7, Windows 7 64bit, ATI Radion 5800, 6gb of RAM. So my computer should run it fine right?
