We'd like it 'cuz it's cool to have your significant other (for all you hetero guys out there and all of the lesbian girl game developpers too i guess!!) not think your arts and dreams is "that's good honey" but "HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME YOU DID THAT???!?!?"
what i mean by that is that i don't want to date a girl that's into scrapbooking
LOL indie games don't help ANYONE get laid! IF ONLY IT WERE TRUE! /intense bitterness

My girlfriend thinks it's "gay" when I'm doing isometric character graphics because it's small naked men and women that I put clothes on...

i'm not talking about getting laid here, i'm talking about living a life with a person who appreciates what you do see chrknudsen if i had a girlfriend who was all "you are making characters that's SO gay" I'd be all "i do plenty of gay stuff like BREAKING UP WITH MY GIRLFRIEND" of course how i'd have ended up with a girl like that is a weird question but whatev' you know what i mean

Well, one precedes the other, right? More seriously, I know of too many people who have to stop playing games/doing game related stuff 'cos of girlfriend pressures. Hmmm. Kinda feel sorry for those people!

yeah i never really understood how that went, I mean sure you can go "WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, SEX OR GAMES" but it's not like that specific girl is the only source of sex in the world
i don't have those kinds of doormats for friends so i don't know really, it's an alien world to me except with no tentacles or spaceships and alien worlds without those are BORING

What makes me sad is that before reading the title of this thread, I was sure there was a LOT more girls in indie game devs than in the classic industry.
In fact I've heard so much about games made by girls that I think that "at least they exists as artists or devs in the indie game world".
Do you know any women famous in the classic industry? I think I remember only about Jade Raymond and we all know that she didn't "make" the game...
Maybe we just want more girls expressing themselves like "us"?

Yes I've heard about her (and read an article recently that she wrote).
Now that's two. The first one is a producer. The second one has a famous name (but clearly she's skilled -- I just want to point that that makes her easier to be known).
That woman that did the presentation at TED about making players work for real world problems, I don't remember her name... That would be number three.
Derek mentionned a lot of names and I've played to most of them because they were pushed in my news feed (from tigsource.com and others) in the same way news about games made by other people were made.
By the way, when the (indie) games are made by teams of more than 2 people, isn't there more chance that one of them is a woman? (just asking, I've not met any indie dev yet in real life :/ )

I said "famous"... yeah that's kind of subjective but I think that you know what I mean.
You can add the girl from the original Portal team (the student project, Nabulthing Drops).

Did the conversation shift from indie games to historical women devs because there are A LOT of them. Like the one who created centipede, etc... A lot, maybe not in japan though.

Hmmmm! Didn't I start a thread about this a year ago only to have it locked after 25+ pages of replies? Yep, as usual, I'm ahead of the curve with my philosophies, only to watch everyone catch up to my ideas by the time I'm already through with thinking of them. Genius is a lonely and boring place.

...Uh, you mean the "where are my groupies" thread? That's a little different from "Where are female indie devs".
