They're going back to classic MK?! :D I'm gonna have to give this a checking out - last one I really got into was Ultimate MK3, and it looks like Midway *might* be on the ball again, here... and how can you go wrong with another ninja-chick? What the hell took them so long?

Midway actually went bankrupt a few years ago and dissolved last year. The MK team now works under Warner Brothers Games as Netherrealm Studios. Also, if you're interested, the demo's out on PSN. Not only are they going back to Classic Mortal Kombat, they've also improved the system to be a more competitively playable game. @Derek To be honest, I'm not sure, I know both the slots are used for DLC, so perhaps it has something to do with cycling through them.

Wow, so I kind of want this after all. I hope it turns out okay, I was playing MK vs. DC with my brother a little while ago. It's pretty cringe-worthy.
Obligatory 'I hate pre-release date announced DLC' comment, because I REALLY do.

It's been confirmed that it's not packed in on the disc, so I really have no problem if they're still working on it, unlike my public issues with Capcom's DLC plan.

It'd be so awesome to see a critically acclaimed Mortal Kombat game. Also, you guys won't stand a chance against my Sektor and maybe Kitana.

Smoke Render and Robot Sub-Zero Render. You can see all the renders here. Confirming the roster shot is indeed real and that the dlc Robot Sub Zero is on the disc (hoping and expecting him to be free). Also to set the record straight, Kintaro is already in the game and NOT dlc. As well, as previously mentioned, Scarlet and Kenshi aren't on the disc but will be dlc later on.

Man, I know it's Mortal Kombat and everything, but the costume design on every single one of the female characters makes me kind of ashamed to have a dick.
Edit: also the art department at NetherRealm have either never seen an actual nipple, or have...unorthodox ideas about their placement.

Sometimes it feels like the art direction regarding women costume design is lead by a 14 year old boy who hides a Sears catalogue with sticky underwear pages under his bed.

These look great, though: SPOILERS All (?) the arenas in the game: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/6855/98594171.jpgI gotta say, I really like the pseudo-Asian fantasy world in MK. Just the right amount of horror and cheese.
