Disclaimer: Everything I know about Vasily is what I've read in this thread, although I have some experience with mental health issues.

What's Vasily's current situation? What has happened since the US officials found out he'd lied? Has he been given any psychological examination to see if he qualifies as mentally ill by US standards?

If the stories are true that he fell foul of political shenanigans in Russia then you'd hope that the officials would bear that in mind before deporting him. If he's tested and found to be well, then his detainment in Russia should be considered to have been political rather than psychological. If there are concerns for his mental health, then he should be diagnosed and treated, not deported. Paranoid Schizophrenia is no laughing matter - either to be falsely diagnosed with it, or to be accurately diagnosed but too ill to accept the diagnosis.

However, I fear that the above paragraph is likely written from a parallel universe I'd like to live in, rather than this one. Between the xenophobia of many American officials, an overly-keen-to-diagnose health care industry run by pharmaceutical companies, and a political and economic scenario that's likely to take a dim view on providing care for non-nationals, it looks pretty bleak Sad

vasily asked me to post this too- i would, but the admin panel's run off somewhere with the new layout of the site. it's quite possible that, as vasily's told me, apple did not approve the game for political reasons: it contains specific names of people and other somewhat risky content to publish. his next hearing is on thursday, i believe. hopefully he's not deported...

quote from his tigsource interview:

"Funny that I showed once in October 2009 in the US the very unappropriate hand job (figurine from fingers) to one actress"

"in the US the very unappropriate hand job"

"very unappropriate hand job"

"hand job"

... i rest my case.

I don't really know what your "case" is, unless it's the idea that his English is poor. Sure, it seems awkward, confusing, or humorous (depending on who you are) at times... But it's not completely cryptic. Most of the time I have been able to tell what he was actually trying to say.
You understand, presumably, what he really meant... I don't think it's very kind to poke fun at the fact that it sounds like he said something very different.

I agree, it's somewhat douchy to mock someone for his poor english, especially considering what he's going through.

Honestly, if you took the head out of that one screenshot that was posted, the scene doesn't look strange at all to me. Even the head is iffy, because there's plenty of games with disembodied heads out there. (Doom anyone?)

Quote
The court is first time in the morning (8:30am on my cycle 6pm-2am for work
I am usually sleeping), I engage on the 24th of June 2010
606 S.Olive street, 17th floor, COURTROOM U, Los Angeles, CA90014, 8:30 am basically in person or
by documents with those
1) juridical throwaways and psychopaths

immigration judge Isabel Bronzina
INS director asylum office George Mihalko
INS director Christina Poulos

2) medical throwaways and psychopaths
Naomi Wolman, MD, Program for torture victims Los Angeles (most likely CIA employee)
Ken Louria, MFT, Program for torture victims Los Angeles (most likely CIA employee)

I gonna say this if I would not be arrested (by Homeland Security) it would
cause the questions of mental status of the named people.

I mean if I was that much of a criminal and a moral freak to torture a refugee in order not to provide with asylum, to preclude a refugee from work permit for a period more than an year (while allowed by the law is 180 days) and to pull the normal person into the mental ward I would do it by the fast arrest, and only juridical and medical lunatics (who they are) would do otherwise.

If I would use my 1.4% of asylum grant rate with immigration judge Isabel Bronzina (I guess she decides through the direct lottery), and she would not give me away to the Russian Ministry of Health, I will use all my resources and time to pay them back and destroy them, and those people from Apple corporation who just denied my brave entertainment do not quite understand what they submitted for.

This really sucks for Vasily, but it seems to me that he definitely does have some mental problems going on. Believing that most people are CIA employees and that somehow the Secret Service (?) is involved in this doesn't seem 100% sane to me. And lying to the emmigration authorities and staying beyond your permit is bound to get you in trouble. I hope he doesn't get deported back to Russia, but I'm having a hard time blaming the US authorities for their actions, as far as I understand the case.

I just read a bunch of his stuff at the quitesoulless.com blog. Made my guts twist up and my heart ache, because I've seen this before.

Assuming that's his actual blog (rather than some Alternative Reality Game thing posted in-character to promote his game), he's ill, and he needs help. That's some big-time paranoia he's got there, and I've no doubt that his daily life is terrifying for him, but he's chasing phantoms (or rather, thinking he's being chased by them). I hope wherever he ends up he gets good mental health care and the support of his family and friends.

This makes me sad. I love Vaslily's stuff and I would love for him to get better again and not be put away in an asylum. It seems like partly he is feeling persecuted because his game is unable to be seen by others -- if he is unable to publish his game through normal means, maybe he can put it out on Cydia or some other such illicit venue.

God knows what can be done about the deportation, it is a frightening thing. He is clearly sick, however...
