Okay, the demo has been updated! This includes some improvements to the overall gameplay. At this point, the game is in fact beatable! To win the game you must hack down each and every tree. But beware, the forest fights back - small spruce cones are regularly dropped by the large trees. These will roll down the path, and at some point become a small trees, to stop them you must stump them down by walking on top of them. Please enjoy

haha this is awesome. Love the sprites. Only complaint is it's hard to tell if you are damaging the trees and how much health they still have.
Good job.

Thanks Makeout, though I can't take credit for the nice sprites it's hammedhaaret's work. But you are indeed right, it would be very nice if the health of the trees were more visible on the trees.

I humbly request a "put on women's clothing and hang around in bars" mode to match the music.

Haha I won. Those damn trees... Graphics and animations, particle effects, etc were really nice. Really made the game shine. The game, it is what it is. Easy and short, almost tedious but still quite interesting enough to beat a couple of times. I enjoyed it.

Very nice looking game, and interesting gameplay. I'd almost like to see some of the trees lean on or help knock others over for some additional strategy. Nice work.

Lovely game, nice colors, funny graphics. Reminds me the 1st episode of Monkey Island, especially the style & music. I love it for that !!!

The game's an amusing little time waster, though I would only play it once I feel. It's pretty easy to avoid new trees just by walking over the pinecones. I like the feeling of chopping them down, of holding the space key and then bringing the axe down, and the sound is fairly satisfying. The music is way subdued though. It's barely audible. Also, when I walked back into my house, I couldn't get back out. The text's anti-aliasing on the win/lose screen clashes with the look of the rest of the game.

I thought the same thing. It's pretty easy to avoid new trees just by walking over the pinecones.
You can WALK over the PINECONES!? And I thought it was impossible to win...

Between this, Orange and Under the Garden, developers seem to have a real vendetta against plants...
This is a very polished game. The graphics and controls are both about as good as they could be (though it took a little while before I learned how to destroy the pinecones). There's not much to the gameplay, though. It's repetitive and requires no real skill.
The difficulty curve is also strange, since the game gets easier as you clear more of the forest away.

This is a clear indication that the collective unconscious is beginning to reject physical reality as an increasing percent of the human population develop a digital identity. :beardstroke:
