Can Sissy get the Stetson and keep breathing?

Gameplay
Third person, WASD keyboard control. The focus is on character, dialogue and location based puzzles.

Engine

I Was a Vegas Showgirl on Filefront (32 mb)

N.B. This is one of the first game made using DAGE, which is still in beta. For that reason there are a few quirks and probably bugs too. So, feedback of any kind is very welcome!

The scene in the original cover looks more 70s than 50s though

I'm really glad somebody is doing this one, I seriously considered it but couldn't come up with any kind of gameplay that wasn't basically a "Showgirls" parody (as much as I do love "Showgirls").

Sweet Ali.  Glad to see you join this!  If it's even 1/10th as charming as Nelly Cootalot, this will be a treat!  And judging by the char designs, you're being generous with the charm!  Let me know how DAGE works out for you!

Thanks for the responses guys! I've added some screens and a demo to the first post.

This has been more tricky than I expected because I've never used Lua scripting before, and because the engine is in beta I've uncovered a few bugs which have set me back. Please try the demo, it'd be good to know if it actually runs on another machine.

@h_double:
I've never seen Showgirls...

@moi:
You're right about the source image looking 70s. However it's also clearly Monaco, not Vegas. I reckoned it wasn't important.

@Vince:
Glad you like the look of it! I think DAGE is really promising. Developing this with it has brought a few teething problems to light, but hopefully it'll become more well-rounded in time.

Runs fine for me, and very cool! Very cool story as well.

When I start it up it closes and then starts back up a few seconds later, at first I thought it crashed. So those playing it, just wait a sec and itll pop up eventually.

Wow, wow, one more time wow, and have I mentioned wow?
This is simply beautiful, you can make it into a cartoon noir movie in this style, easily...

Just one thing: when I go and talk to the bouncer nothing happens, and I'm stuck, I don't know if that's a bug or if the demo stops there...

Thanks for the comments!

@allen:
The double loading is a quirk of the engine, thanks for reminding me to warn people.

@tzachs:
What happened is, you hit the invisible wall of 'where I'm up to'. The other conversation is lifted from the DAGE demo and has nothing to do with this game either. I also forgot to mention that. (I hope Robolution is going well!)

You think you'll be finished in time? Even if not, it would be nice to see you still work on this. It seems very promising.

DAGE is very interesting, I'll have to have a look at it. Your game looks much better than the youtube video on their blog, I have to say.

How apt your question seems now, allen...

Owing to some trouble with the engine, unforeseen house-hunting and other real-world obstacles I haven't been able to finish this game in time.

I have made progress and I do hope to finish it in the not-too-distant future. I hope some of you will give it a try then.

Long after the race ended, I finally limped past the finishing line! See the first post for a download link.

The game is quite short, but making a 3D adventure game was an interesting experiment for me. Hopefully some people will find it diverting.
