Hey, also, it would be awesome if people could add meetups to the tigsource facebook group as well. I'd do it, but either I don't have the privileges, or I don't know how.

Good idea. Unfortunately, I don't know how either. I'll see what I can find out about this. Smiley

I've been organizing a weekly game dev co-work meetup in the Boston area about 6 weeks now. I wanted to announce that we've finally found a more permanent home in a really awesome community workspace called Sprout in Somerville, MA.

If you are in the Boston area and want to check it out drop me a message or email. Typically we've been meeting every Tuesday from around 10am to 6pm (give or take.)

So far it is only 1-3 game devs that have been coming but interest is slowly growing. I figure it will maybe hit 5 or 6 regulars eventually and the space we are in could comfortably support 8.  There is a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, great wifi bandwidth, power, tables, and chairs.  Tons of cool non-game creators are using the space as well.  There is an electronics, machine and woodworking shop, electronics testing gear, musical instruments, and great chances for connections outside the game development community.

The space is also free to use with donations being welcomed.  I'm glad we are finally moving out of the noisy cafes.

That sounds awesome, HybridMind -- Sprout seems like a really nice space. We have a pretty cool hackerspace in Montreal, but they run by paid membership and I've been sort of loath to encroach on their limited desk space. I love the idea of having that interdisciplinary cross-pollination going on, though.

I hear you on the desk space front.  The lucky thing is that the people that run Sprout said that early in the week (Monday and Tuesday especially) the desk space is really under utilized upstairs so it works out nicely in not having to monopolize it.  Hopefully there are other free or cheap options for you to discover up there--in any case I wish you good luck!

Reminder, the Triangle-area indie games meetup is this Thursday, 7pm, Rally Point sports grill on north Harrison. That's just off 40 in Cary. Here's the meetup page for more info:

While this isn't restricted to indie developers, the Georgia Game Developers Association has a monthly meetup on the second Tuesday of month. Check the calendar for dates and times to specific cities. I run the Augusta chapter. Check out the forums (link in my signature) for current events and updates.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this on TIGForums so I thought here's a good spot.  I recorded video footage of all the presentations at the Indie City Games Meet-up and posted them all on YouTube.  Here's a link to the indiecitygames forum where you can find them all:

Can you add this one to the list for Vancouver developers, please?

Alex Vostrov has the original thread here, but I didn't want to necro it.

There was a good chunk of us out last time (55?) and the group seems to be growing every month. Chevyray even sang us a song last time. :3
