I think an album if made should consist of a theme, not just a collection of songs. And considering the huge amount of musicians here, i think a collaboration theme wouldn't go amiss in the slightest.

I have worked on and organized forum-based albums before and they are always good fun. I would be willing to organize it if you want.

I'd be be up for it!

How would we collaborate though? Simply remixing each other's work?

Yes! Here here. I also like the idea of themed music albums.

Another thing I'd like to see on this site is some kind of music competition, where a simple prototype without music is displayed, and everyone competes to make the best song. Or perhaps a mockup is displayed...

Well that all depends on what you want to do.

My idea was that people find themselves someone(s) to work with and they... make a tune/song together. We could have another theme to the album as well such as 8-bit or something but i wouldn't want too much of a restriction to the first album we do. (yeah i'm thinking this could become a regular thing)

one thing; we can't have too many songs or songs that are too long. I'd say the album would want to be 30 - 60 minutes. That could either mean only selecting the best tracks, or first-come-first-serve (i would prefer the latter, but thats just me).

if everyone's happy i'll start up a new topic and organize it properly?

Well, give us a theme and I suggest we make our separate songs individually; let any participant unable or unwilling (hey, you never know) to write certain layers/parts of a song, or one who feels like joining forces, collaborate with other musicians.

oh yeah, and if i could join, that would be rad.

I think an initial collaboration theme will help get this whole music "department" to know each other a little better. I'm a bit in love with the idea right now.

When all the details get sorted out, let me know and I'll post it on www.tigmn.com.

Also, who's running the idea/collaberation here?

I'm volunteering to do it, but I'd rather someone who has more time than me organize it.

I'd be willing to help out with organizing this business (NOT on my own) + contributing music to this album. I say we get started organizing already

ACardboardRobot, could you put a list in your post with all the people who have said in this thread that they want to work on TIGAlbum?

Depending on how many people want to join, we could have multiple albums with different themes. Of course, there aren't a great too many musicians on this forum, so we'll see about that.

If it's okay with the organizers I'd be able to host the whole thing at tigmn. Once we settle who's organizing it.

I can throw my hat in with organizing because it keeps in line with tigmn and I've actually had a few ideas for themed albums.

So basically if no one steps up to the plate I can run it.

Can I get moved from the "i dunno" to "definitely gonna write some music" category. Merci.

I think giving tigmn.com the main run at putting this together is a good idea, and a great early project for the site. Lemme know if you need a hand with any of the organizing.
