I think we need a topic with a list of active members. That way it will be easier to recognize people and get to know the community. This forum's pretty big, after all.

And the topic needs to be stickied. It can be this topic, if you want.

There's this:

http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?action=mlist;sort=posts;start=0

I'd be concerned that something else might degenerate into weird popularity contests. What did you have in mind?

I'm on page 6 and yet to release a game or really do anything of merit. This is a terrible way to find the people to kiss the bottoms of.

THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST.

It's just a list of people you might come across when browsing the forum so that you can recognize them when you see them.

I don't understand the benefit of being able to recognize people based on a list, rather than on past experiences with them.

I recognize people via shit they've made/said that I've liked. AKA do cool things and you'll get recognized more.

Your list idea makes no sense.

Shame you can't sort it by posts per day. I think I'd be second on that list, making me an Important Indie Figure(tm).

I agree that a user list topic is disnecessary. If you hang out in the forums long enough you'll get to know people just fine. Postcounts mean jack shit around here anyway.

Besides mine, of course. Gentleman Holy crap I post so much.

It might be cool if you could get a list that broke up members into functional categories, ie programmer, artist, musician.

And then of course the "Made games in klik and play for a few years but doesn't have them anymore" tag for me.

for a list of people by categories, there's this:

http://tig.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Developers
http://tig.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Musicians
http://tig.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Artists
etc.

somewhat incomplete, but feel free to add to it

uuhh lists like these make me sick.  Seems quite counter to the Indie spirit to make a list which pretty much is just a list of the popular developers.

do you mean the wiki, nate? it's not a list of just the popular developers, anyone can be added, and should be, it's just that it just started and we have a lack of editors writing for it, but eventually we'd like to make it as complete as possible. i also don't feel like those listed are exclusively popular ones, there are plenty of unknown developers with articles in the wiki even now.
