You should definitely go if you have the opportunity! Trust me you're going to regret it otherwise. It might be stressful, a lot of things may feel overwhelming but those are the experiences that shape you! You have a great opportunity and I think you should do everything you can to seize it. Good luck! (Oh, an congratulations! )

Nice Congratulations! Your English sounds like it's at a perfectly understandable level to me, just judging by your post

As I understand it'll be translated into japanese by interpreters, at any rate. By the way, I'm also speaking at SOWN. See you there. EDIT: So does anyone have any advice in the way of what I should do while at the TGS? I don't know quite what to expect.

Ah, hadn't read that. I don't check facebook much. Also I read your post there, including the abrupt "lol", in your australian voice in my head.

A bit late to this post, but..
@medi I saw your game on the sown page, so I guess that means you're coming. nice one! I'm sure you'll be fine, but just wanted to say.. last year there was plenty of time to go over my presentation with the interpreter beforehand.
She gave a slightly strange translation for some things, but it adds to the mysterious charm of foreign games. FOR GREAT JUSTICE. I think most games that aren't completely crazy speak for themselves by demonstration, and using very simple English can be an advantage.
@Cellulose, and anyone else going
I put my vote in for the student work areas. It's kind of out the back, so easy to miss if you're slowly trawling through the main halls. Each year a bunch of game design schools show up with their students to demo games they've made for their course. There are a lot of half-baked shooters and rpgs, but also some completely charming and fascinating games. It's great fun trying all of them out, and being able to chat with the people who made them.
